N80 V's K800i

i've always used nokias before this phone, and it's far better than anything nokia has to offer at the moment. menu system easier to use, text input easy to adapt to. great phone. flippin awesome camera.

the mrs loves her new k800, with 1gb card, walkman, camera and phone all in one

the only downside is the voda logo on it, but it was free, so i told her to lump it

now excuse me while i nurse the large bruise on my head......

Jai still bitter there? :p :p

i'm tempted to phone staff accounts and sort out a slightly early upgrade to a k800i, purely because well from the looks, it rocks :slayer: plus the use it like a proper camera type thing is cooool :D

Can it run those same lil programs like nokia though? (wouldnt ask but not back at work till mon) as i want to try keep my tomtom  :p

Even though I know the stick will break

the memory stick? thats odd, i've heard rumours of formatting and compatabilty issues, but never had an issue with any of the various types, sizes i have interchanging, though would be nice if they did a duo sized adaptor for the mini M2

Well I'm happy with my N80, the only problem is keeping the camera clean as it's exposed on the back and if you don't clean it before taking pics, they end up blurry :( I don't understand how the menu isn't simple, it's the typical Nokia menu, things are in the same place they always are  There's extra shortcuts as well and of course these are fully programmable. And yes, zillions of themes, games and extra software is a bonus - I would be lost without Opera for example, I use it all the time and it's a cut above the browser the phone comes with.

i had the n80 for 2 weeks then returned it because i really didnt like it.
Everything took ages on it....even getting to my inbox or photos because the menus took ages to load compared to the samsung phones im used to.

iv got the D900 now and love it but out of those two id definately go for the k800i.

my nokia froze a couple of times when i was tryin open text messages too

I work for Vodafone and dont get many problems with the K800i, but he N80's are always coming back with problems.

I think the spec on the k800i is better anyway, and sony's can always have the software updated or "modified" to make better. (as an example, the k750i could have the software changed to function just like the w800 walkman but with less memory, but this was of course unofficial, but did save £200 when they were new).

You can get Nokia firmware updated too and just like your home PC, this is recommended if you're not on the latest edition. The problem was they released it so early because we were all clamouring for it, so there were still a few bugs. Update the firmware and you get rid of a lot of annoying problems such as slow photos, poor videos etc. I don't work for any phone company but do read the 3g forums and study what I get before I buy it.
