...intentionally, i.e. one that is impossible to decompress? I imagine something like opening the file in txt editor and changing some character/codes somewhere :confused:
 
Yes, it works. It is enough to delete the first two characters.
 
I wonder then, should you have any secure information is it possible to just remeber the first two characters you delete and put them back in when you want access to the file?

In most cases that is not possible as the character coding is in a different format and when you resave with those characters it will save them as "text" not the machine/compilation code it was originally in.

Furthermore in some case simply deleting a "few" characters will not be significant enough to corrupt the file and the file may still open and work almost perfectly.
