free car uplift(scotland)

most scrappies round my end still take cars for free as long as they dont have to collect, i do know a couple of places that still collect for free too, but its getting harder to get rid of cars these days. they reckon its because EU recycling restrictions have increased the cost of disposal, but who in their right mind would pay to have a car removed?! just leave it near my house unlocked and the local chavs will remove it within 15mins guaranteed, even if it hasnt got wheels or an engine.

When I lived in Bournemouth, the local Bournemouth & Poole local authority have there own recycling facility and as such will come and collect and cars no matter what the condition and recycle everything for free, they would also uplift cars left untaxed for 6 weeks as well and do the same.

The other bonus of this was you could go down and get pasts for cars very cheap as it was all funded by the local authority so wasn't profit driven.

I had a real problem trying to get my Cinq lifted from here tho, as they do not have similar schemes here, but did find someone willing to collect it for free even tho it had no engine/gearbox, seats even a steering column, I talked them into it by saying it had alloy wheels on it which were the roughest Cinq alloys I could find with bald tyres.

so how on earth do i get an abonadonedededde car lifted! dump it on the main rd??(n) :bang:

report it to the police, they will most likely contact the last registered owner and take it from there,
its a pain as i remember edin' council tarmacing a road around an abandened car as they couldnt get permission to remove it in time

There's an abondoned Clio (no surprise there) in the residents parking area where I live. It has weeds growing through it! Unfortunatly the council wouldn't touch it as it sits on private spaces not owned by them, and not owned by us either.

And sometimes there's a Yaris that looks to be abandoned on the road, but it goes after a few hours. Perhaps the driver can't park unless there's a wheel on the pavement and the rest sticking out into the road!
