hi people :wave: sorry to land you with another problem but the 2 exhaust bolts have snapped in the manifold of my little field bike, my uncle tried to drill them out and couldn't get them out if it was a 2 stroke i'd have took the cylinder off and took it too a bike shop but are 4 strokes harder to take the barrel off?? sorry but i know very little about engines, my limit is changing a piston. oh and if you know of any other ways i could go about getting the bolts out would be spot on!! thanks again guys nd gals :slayer:

hi custard, ermm i really have no idea, he drilled for a bit then got something else out and tried turning it but the bolt didn't budge, thanks

Best bet, is remove engine and take it to a machine shop. they will get them out. If not, you could mess threads up and would require retapping.

i thought about taking just the barrel to somewhere but is it harder to take off on a 4 stroke? i'm used to 2 strokes thanks for your help

You'll probably find it is quicker and easier to remove the whole engine than to try and remove the cylinder head. Then you could take the engine down to a machine shop, and they could drill out the old stud and put in a helicoil for you

yeh i think you're right! and i'm going to drop it out tommorow as it's no good sitting doing nothing in me garage! thanks for the advice, didn't think of just taking out the engine!

That's the great thing about motorbike engines, especially when fitted to the older unfaired models. I could remove the engine in my Honda H100 in about an hour Takes about five times as long if the bolts were chewed up or seized though...

Even my old Kawasaki GPz550 could have the engine removed in about 2.5 hours

What bike do you have by the way?
