basically being the idiot i am, i had a direct debit out today, i have put the money in my bank to cover the payment, but does anyone know if the bank will still charge me, even although the payment was put in on the day the direct debit was due to come out. According to the banks website, when i clicked on my direct debits the company requested the payment at some time today, but it doesnt ssay when? anyone know anything about these things? thanks again

My bank dont charge you if its the first time you have done it. phone them up to check, sometimes they'll refund the charges for putting account in credit same day. :)

if it debits your account first thing and is recalled by the bank later due to insufficiant funds then yes you will be charged.

if it isnt recalled and you bring it back within its limits no you wont be charged.

if it isnt recalled and you dont rectify the balance (back within overdraft limit) you will get charged :)

so you are saying right if they try and get it in the morning and the funds aint there then unless they try and take the payment again i wont be charged, but if the funds are there (which they are now), and they try and get the payment again, then i will be charged? why on earth would i be charged if they try and take the payment again with the funds there, and not be charged if they dont try and take it again? surely if they didnt get it then they would charge, but they did get it, so why would they charge?
