Ah, they say it's reliable but how many owners are going to wait for the turbo/supercharger to cool down before turning off the engine? They'll be filling the scrap yards soon enough.

8 seconds, I'd be happy with that, considering it returns a supposed 42 mpg. If they stick that engine in an Ibiza, it could well be a decent candidate for my next car.

Well I think near enough 170bhp from a 1.4 is impressive, plus the benefits of a turob and supercharger. I doubt a 2.0 could do 42mpg combined, certaintly not if it was mine, my Sporting did an average of 35 mpg!
If I am driving nicely which is the conditions they would get their figures from on the fuel consumption then I can get close to 42mpg combined on my 2.0 Turbo, and I have a 0-60 time of around 5 secondsThe Trooper said:

You wouldn't get 42mpg if you sprinted from 0-60 in 5 seconds regularly thought would you
ay ay But imagine that engine in an Ibiza, it would be properly fast then, Golfs are big and clumsy
