Hello everyone!

Right, this is my dilemma and I'd like some advice on what you'd do faced with the same situation.

There is a twelve year old brat who lives 10 houses away from me, one day as I was driving into town he threw a rock at my windowscreen, I got out and gave chase, caught him, took him home and told his parents, but they don't really give a s**t.

Since this incident, he spits (nice green ones) on my car whenever he passes, particularly after I've washed it, has bullied my kids who are nine and seven, thrown eggs at my property on several occasions, put mud and dog s**t through my letterbox and tonight we popped out, we got back to a nice pile of snow in the hallway that had been shoved through the letterbox!

I have been round to his home, but I get no response, I caught him in the street and he told me I couldn't touch him and I said no but my fifteen year old nephew can come down and give you a good hiding, but none of this deters him.

I phoned the Police for some advice and they couldn't really offer me any support. What do you do? What would you do? I've phoned my nephew this evening and he's going to pop round at the weekend and give this lad a kicking (it's costing me £20 mind you). Is this the right way to go? Why do kids have more rights than us these days? So much for Anti Social Behaviour Orders!

Cheers guys.

i wouldnt get your nephew involved, save u £20 and a criminal record for him, he is bound to get one cause the law is poo.

I am only 20, so not really into all this stuff but think i sensible enough. My dad is a magistate(spelling) and just asked him wot his opinion is.

This is wot he said:
"Dont get anyone else involved cause the law is a farce and I have had to prosecute innocent victims pushed to the edge by anti-social youths.
Try and get video evidence if possible and log all incidents that occur.
Use common sense and dont get drawn into anything because it could make things worse for you and your family.
Police SHOULD act, if causing you nuisence and distress"

Thats wot he thinks, i would string them up by there balls and teach them a good lesson, u see these yobs in the paper and they only 4ft tall and causing nuisense to hundreds of people, i would sort them out in 5 mins, if i was let in a room with them[:(!][:(!][:(!]

best bet is to contact your local citizens advice bureu regarding legal options,it s**t i know i moved from a great house for similar reasons but from a long term point of view this is what we ( law abiding tax payers!!!) have to do to get the peace we deserve.CAB are free and they helped me with a previous query where i thought they would just give me a leaflet etc they were great

Hi Gaz

Thanks for that and thank your father also. The thing is it's easy to say log events and keep cool, etc, but it is really difficult when you are in the situation. These kids parents wind me up too, because if someone knocked on my door complaining about my children, I can assure you it wouldn't happen again, discipline starts at home!

Any way I'll see how it develops, but this has been going on since last September and I've just about had enough.

i no wot u mean, had some lad on my street doing the same kind of stuff, just being a total git. i caught him once give him a mouthful, 10 mins later the mum and dad was round my house offering me out[xx(].
The silly thing was i rose to the occasion and got arrested, nothing ever came off it luckily, but it is that easy to get drawn in, I was only 18 at the time, just out of nappies myself:p

Disipline does start at home, and boy do i know it, if i stepped out of line i was put straight back into it, but some people are just not like that.

Savi

Sorry to here about ur probs, we've had probs like this quite often where i live, I lost my temper one nite with one group and ended up smashing a baseball bat threatening them [xx(], didnt solve anything but made me feel better.

If they are council tenants try reporting them to the council, as i think they can do more about an ASBO if they are. I know around here tenants get 3 chances to sort out their kids behaviour before they are evicted and there have been quite a few highly reported cases of ASBO's and they name nd shame the kids involved.

Is this happening to anyone else or just you, cos if there are more people involved you should have a better case. :)

Whatever you do though Savi DO NOT get your nephew involved, it will do him no good. Do you REALY want a child standing up for you!
Do things legally even if it seems to be going nowhere at times, it IS the best method.

Hope you get it sorted soon :)

My personal reaction would be to batter the living daylights out of the little s***bag and his idle halfwit parents (In fact, for £50 plus expenses I'll do it for you :D joking! ). But I'm a bit unhinged and quite handy with my fists (and with a steel trolley-jack handle[}:)]!).
The best non-psychotic option is to video/photo the little scrote in action and show this to the police. The cops ARE lazy, slow, and almost useless (hence my preference of taking the law into my own hands), but they can't ignore hard evidence. The law smokes a whole lot of pole where youth crime is concerned; in my eyes it's the same thing whether the criminal is 14 or 40 and should be treated the same way. If all else fails, pound him!

I offer you my upmost sympathy but unfortunately have nothing to help you further with. Everyone has said the right stuff IMO - it is disgusting what he is doing and most of us would never dream up doing those things luckily.

Twincamms - My family went (and it occasionally flares up now and again) through what your going through. My sister had a best mate, who i shall name 'fatty', basically, had an arguement, childish really, and it ended up with my sister being beaten up and put in hospital. Thats when the law was called in, but as 'fatty' was 15 (now 16 - bring it on bitch) the law mearly told her parents. Her parents took no notice and threatened my mum, heh.
Fatty and a few of her cousins (all same age) used to walk opposite my house, and prank my house number a few times everyday. We had to get our phone number changed because of this - police wanted records, so they got them, and still didn't do anything.
By this time, i was getting angry, and one evening, whilst driving to pick up my girlfriend, i saw fatty with a mate crossing the road. I waited for them to cross, but when they saw it was me, they stopped, and verbally gave it the large. Gas down, clutch up, drove straight at them, an act of craziness. They moved at the last minute, but at the time it seemed a good thing to do.
Got to my girlfriends house, kinda shaking, not sure why, perhaps adrenaline mixed with the fact i know i'd been very stupid. Anyway, drove back to my house, and saw her again on the way, just about to cross the road, so once again, wheelspun towards them but remaining on the road at all times. My girlfriend was annoyed to say the least. She had good right to be, for the next week or so, her house recieved the same treatment as what mine was getting. I felt bad knowing that it was my fault, but whats done is done, and they left her alone after a week. I kept getting threats of violence towards me and my "s**tty little car". By this time, it was all turning very stupid, with her obviously going out of her way more than usual, to make life hell.
Then the ECU relay died on my car, and so me and my g/f had to travel into Romford on the bus - and guess who was at the bus stop that day. I took so much abuse it was silly. I was spat on, shouted at, and i just had to stand there, knowing this gang of 15 year olds were doing their best to make me react, and then no doubt the police would actually charge me, so i just had to take that abuse. The rage was unbelievable, i got home and kicked the sh*t out of the fridge, just because i had to vent my frustration. After paying for a new fridge, and the cars repairs, i was back where i wanted to be, and everything died down.
She got bored of walking to our house to shout and break things, gave up trying to find our new number, and turned 16. So now if the police are called in, we have more chance of getting something done.
All we get nowadays is verbal abuse from time-to-time, which we just laugh at.
Point being here, on a few occasions, i could have lost it, and probably be inside now, or doing community service or something, and i feel glad i kept the rage in, and my fists down. As she lives about a 3/4 mile away, its easier, and i feel for you having to live in the same street. From what you say, the problem has been getting worse, and if you react futhur, the problem will get alot worse. Sorry to say it, but you have to grin and bare it, taking precautions to make things harder for him to do (garage the car, avoid eye contact, etc) and hopefully it should calm things.

Another day...another problem...

Thanks for your support everyone

Basically this all started when he thought it was big to stick a Mars bar in my exhaust, then the rock throwing incident, but it has become worse since I took him home to his parents, he didn't like that and has become a pest. His parents, particularly his father are very arragont and seem not to believe or just not to care about what he does.

As I said this s**t is only twelve years old and I thought the best way to deal with it was for a minor, my nephew, to give him a damn good kicking down the local park where he hangs out. He is a solitary kid as all the other parents seem not to let their children play with him because he has had the Police round his house a few times and brought other kids down with him.

Where I live is not a council area, it is in fact a desirable post code and nice area to live in and this is the only problem I have encountered in the nine years I've lived here.

I'm still not happy about the whole situation and I am going to have to give it some thought, you guys have been most helpful, sometimes you need people to clarify things in your own mind.

Cheers
Savi.

Savi,

I have a 7 year old boy, and he was being bullied by a lad from up the street the same age. It all came to a head when he was locked into a garden shed one night and I had to go looking for him, it was after 11pm before he was found. The kids parents didn't want to know, and I live in a decent area as well. I called the police, they came round and talked to the kids parents, nothing official, just a warning and a chat. The bullying hasn't stopped, but there's nothing I can do. I've started my son at Karate lessons, hopefully a year down the line he'll be better equipped to look after himself.

That said, violence isn't the way around it. It's unpleasant and gets you down, but it's not worth getting your nephew into trouble over it. The police have to act, persist, phone them every time something happens and do take a note of incidents.

Life is like that I'm afraid, someone always wants to **** you off and stamp you down. You just can't let them. Best of luck and let us know how it develops.

Hi

I had the Police out again today and they've acted on this occasion, they have gone to make a house call to his parents and they said they'd get back to me once they had talked. Mind you that was at 1100 it's now 1830 and I haven't heard a sausage!

The Police, good aren't they?

I know people have many stories that they have "heard from a mate" and you obviously take them with a bit of salt. I have a story first hand however:

My dad is a primary school headteacher in a not bad area but not an awful one. One of the teachers heard some noise outside and looked out and there was a large group (5-10) of youths 16-22 i am told. So the teacher went to tell me dad who went to check through the window and they were swearing etc. when they saw them they started throwing stones at the school windows so they had to get all the kids out of all the classroms (it is a school on a car corner of 3 roads with all the classrooms on the road sides..) into the central hall. As they were lobbing stones at the windows and they were smashing and hence putting glass onto the kids he called the police instantly and the school can go into a kind of lock down. It has good security so it would have been very difficult for anyone to get in but you must remember that these are 5-11 year olds and all female teachers except my dad. The police said "yes, we're on our way and understand the urgency" 45 minutes later and the guys had cleared off, two kids had been taken to hospital with glass cuts on their faces they still hadn't come so my dad phoned up again "Why the hell are you guys" and they said "someone should have come but sorry they hadn't, someone will come now" at which point one of the teachers got in her car and went the one mile to the police station and asked for someone to come to the school and could she please speak to someone more important, she was then told to wait and eventually 90 minutes after this group attacked the school a lone single 19 year old mini-policeman came.

You're not the only one who thinks awful about them. Mention you have a gun and might kill them if they aren't quick and expect them a lot quicker. I have always thought that if I really needed some police help if possible I would say "the person could be armed" if there is someway it is possible. I am told this makes one huge difference.

I am not saying you lie to the police really, but if you ever found someone in your grandparents house for example you wouldn';t know what they are doing to them.

I blame Blair...

Personally, i'm voting for the Raving Loonie Party. Purely because i like the jazzy outfits. I couldn't give a toss which government wins. Either way, whether labour carry on or are beaten, taxes will still increase and punishment on the innocent motorist will get worse.
