post office are complete ****s! that wouldnt let me tax my car because my policy doesnt start till friday! thats ****ing rediculous! now i gotta wait till friday then i will be stuffed anyway because i wont be insured on the uno to get to the marea to take the marea out! GRRRRRRR i wanna punch someone so ****ing hard now!

its not going to be illegal, the only reason my insurance is only valid from friday is because i needed to sort out the tax! i was going to phone them when i got in to arrange cover from now i told the guy on the phone that!

you need a valid cover note and mot to get a tax disc. its the law

****ing bitches, the websites down and the phone system says my 11 digit number is wrong as they cant find me car, ****ing imports!

When I was doing the same thing, our insurance co, offered to overlap both cars onto the insurance to avoid this sort of thing happening.

Maybe have a chat with them, they are clearly the ones who have stuffed up.

Bulldog, unlucky mate but unfortunately that's the way it works. The post office can't issue you with a tax disc until you can prove you have insurance and an MOT for the first day of issue that the new tax disc is to run from.

How come you're taxing the car mid month? You'll have to back date it to the beginning of June and lose three weeks? Wait a couple of weeks and you'll be able to tax it from the beginning of July!

But I bet you're looking forward to getting the Marea back on the road

Rules is rules, annoying at times I know, but seem to recall having run 2 cars off one insurance policy before now.

I've taxed a car on a temporary policy before now but by the time they get the paperwork to you the insurance will have started for the Marea anyway. You can't do it online if there's loads of new stuff for that car eg. new owner, new insurance policy, only when it's a 'repeat' so to speak (I ran into that problem with the Cinq).
