Damn I missed it. The TV guide said they were finding out which is generally faster between petrol and diesel cars. Which came out on top?
they had some modded punto deisel and the thought best way to test it was against the grande punto sporting, guess which won
well a 190ish bhp astra diesel against the 240bhp astra vxr or summit, petrol one won the 1/4 mile drag, but not the 1/4 mile drag from a 50mph in 4th gear start, and petrol won the 1 lap of a race track.The Trooper said:

It wasn't just an astra diesel it was a Triple 8, basically a race tuned CDTi by the Thurlby 888 team against a standard VXR. Tune the VXR to the same degree and it would have been laughable.beau_4076 said:

Hmm it would have been more interesting if they'd compared a petrol and diesel producing the same power, because I'd be curious to see which was the better overall performer. Of course a VXR is going to be faster than a 190bhp Astra diesel.
You'll find they are actually priced within £100 of each other. They said on the show that there was a 3k difference but even that was wrong.arc said:
