Right as you all know ( or should know) i have a MK2 Punto... been having major probs with it and costing a great deal of money.

Due to dramatic change in my life im thinking of getting rid of the punto. To stay in the fiat life im thinking of a sei, small cute ( easy to park) but i was wondering what are the good and bad points of the sei? seems to be alot of owners on here... so maybe you could help.

Or on the other hand move away from fiats?? ( dont hurt me) But wouldnt know where to start.

Want something small that wont cost me the earth to maintain and run as will soon be buying a house... any ideas?

the sei is a good choice, probably as much kit, barring the city button as what your punto will have had. The cinq people will have summat to say though]

Depends how much you have to spend

god love the city button!! cant park without it lol

not sure on price range yet. as gonna cost a bomb to " fly the nest"

plus doubt i`ll get a great deal for punto as its got super high miles on it.

Do like the sei tho,... does it have many common faults?

no i would say if you want less trouble then a newer sie is the better choice plus the styling seems more popular with the ladys and apple

things to check.....
make sure the handbrake works well
listen for clunks and knocks from the suspension on the test drive
check the oil for mayo and the coolant for oil
um check the bodywork as there easy dented

cant think of much else just now

what sort of price are you aiming to pay?

also why didnt oyu just post in the cinq/sei section

Other than the usual cento triats like the handbrake and the clutch cable, theres not really much wrong with them...barring a girls car if you are a bloke :(

cos knowing my luck lots of ppl would jack my thread with rubbish and it would be classed as spam and removed.

Sorry to sound stupid... but mayo?????? in a car

Thank you for all above points. as said before... not sure on range till i talk to "the boss" but dont want a shed, just something a bit better running than the punto

Apple its not a girls car.... its a cute car.... loads of blokes got em round here, could be worse u could drive a clio

when water mixes with the oil it turns to mayo(chef bit:mayo is just an cold emulsification hence the same effect in the car)so a warning sign of head gasket problems is mayo on the dip stick

you seem wise in the ways of the car... thank you very much.... i`ll be looking out for mayo... eww!

what year do they change over from mk1 to mk2 does anyone know?

white gunk in the oil cap, it a possible sign of hg problems, i have it all the time cause i only do short journeys :(

i would go for a mk2 sei like apple's , it more suited to you as you a lady :D

doubt you miss the city button as the power steering is pretty light anyway, if not just work on them arm muscles

October 2000 was the changeover to MPI, 2000 MPI's are thin on the ground more likely to find a 2001 either on an X or more likely a Y

Thanks ever so much for the few tips and year info. I`ll let you know if i find anything... then u can tell me if its cr*p or if im gonna get ripped off lol

Any further comments would be most welcome.

Thank you for your time :D

if its an SPI sei the SX will only be an 899cc compared to the 1108 sporting.

If its an MPI SX the front and rear bumpers will be different, it will have no alloys and no rev counter, the heater console will also be black rather than the silver in the sporting.

The engine is the same however in MPI form

Bad - Putting fixed back buckets and harnesses makes the rear seats practically unuseable.

Good - Is an absolute hoot to drive as its tiny!
