I`m going to be scrapping a punto soon,and was wondering how you declare it as scrapped,it`s already stripped to it`s bare bones so it`s not really going to go to a vehicle dismantler just a scrap metal yard,
You used to have to tick a box on the v5 and send it back

I think it's still the same, let me check my V5

You must fill out section 9 on the V5

as far as i can tell you have to get them to fill out the form with there vat number etc and sign for it,
As if any scrappies going to do that

Yeah you do, I know what you mean, my local scrappy doesn't seem like they would. They have a big knife on the desk which slightly unnerves me.

any one know a way round it,like just writing scrapped on the v5 and sending it to dvla?

I'm just wondering whether you could declare it SORN and not tell them at all. Another thing would be what happens when the insurance companys write off cars, who tells the DVLA an what is doone about it, it could be the answer to the problem.

Car has to go to an authorised car dismantler to be signed as scrap,the answer to what happens to cars when they are wrote off?........... They go to a salvage auction or directly to the car dismantler.
You could declare it sorn but youd be doin it every 12 months for the rest of your life.

when scrappy picked up my shell of cinq they just filled v5 out for me and handed back to me to post off
