Use a bbq or gas lighter - the ones you press button to click - cheap to buy and remake. I know what i'll be doing this sunday

May make a large one and use a sparkplug, coil and a 12v battery :slayer:

Sh** Luke sparkplug coil and 12v battery thats a cannon :p

im still pondering on the ignition system for it though

Yes I'm the same :chin: if you look at the vid all you see is a button fix to it the igniter or at least parts of it are some how fixed inside  dont suppose theres a link to Email him is there Charlie ?

Those are standard piezo ignitor buttons which have nuts on them to tighten into place, mostly found on gas fires i got a couple in my van, and being as im a plumber i have the pipe, fittings and the glue as well just need some spuds.

Well if you made enough of them then maybe we could organise a group buy :D

Sorry to **** on your parade boys, but I have a feeling that building a larger 'bazooka' style spud gun may be breaking the Firearms Act 1968 Section 5 (1) (ae) -

any rocket launcher, or any mortar, for projecting a stabilised missile, other than a launcher or mortar designed for line throwing or pyrotechnic purposes or as signalling apparatus.

Remember, that video's from the US. British Firearm law is different from that of US law. Breaking the Firearms Act here can get you up to 10 years inside (n).

If you're gonna start shooting, you may as well do it properly - get an air rifle and join the local gun club (y) I dunno if none of you are actually serious about building a spud gun, but this is just a warning if there's anyone out there that is serious.....................:chin:

My warning is this, go for the 2" bore as anything smaller will restrict you to using Jersey Royals and that is damn expensive shells people, you want to eat hots ones of them not shoot them!

Where are the instructions to build this bad boy? I can't find instructions on Google for it. Somebody care to give me a hand?

Edit- found them don't worry!

Do understand that if you don't build it to hold in a very large amount of pressure, it could quite literally go off like a bomb right next to your head.

Then try explaining that to the police while you're on the way to the hospital in an ambulance.

yeah i did notice that, you need to use pressure pipe, but besides that i came to the complusion its going to impossable to build one as no where sells 2" or 4" pressure PVC pipe :( can only get drainpipe which is far too thin, and at £24 for like 20ft it aint cheap either, so wang to that(n)

I agree that no doubt it'll fall foul of the law, but that section says, "for projecting a stabilised missile" and I doubt a potato would count as one of them!

Indeed the law in the US is different. Over their it's illegal not to have a gun. Almost. :p
