Just got a phone call off my dad, i won a punto 75 tb, fuel rail, manifold, injectors etc on ebay. It was posted to my home address.

They tried to deliver it and no-one was in, so they left a card. Well this morning my step mum went to pick it up for me. She waited there for ages, then the guy came back and said they'd lost it.

It's been lost between going from the delivery van and back to the depot. How, seriously, how the hell - what kind of incompatent morons are working there. I totally realise that the standards of service vary from region to region, so im not slaggging off all of royal mail. But anyone who works at the Lytham St Annes depot.. pull your f**king finger out and find my stuff that you've lost.

I don't think it was sent via any kind of insured post, but i don't care - i will get my money back or the parcel. It hasnt been damaged in transit, it can't be blamed on any other depot - it was lost by the St Annes depot. I have a bit of card that says that they have it, so where the **** is it?? :bang:

Same happened to me Arc:(

Won item on ebay & card left in door saying it was at collection office (even though the wife was in all day!) which I was at 45minutes later.Guy at counter looked at card & looked straight at me & said "we lost it sorry, you have to complain to head office.I said aren't you even going to even look for it & he said no we have definately lost it!
The complaints procedure was too long & boring so just put it down to experience.....was only worth fiver anyway but thats not the point.
Month later in local paper 3 postie charged with stealing letters/parcels:rolleyes:

as i say all the time(even though you shouldnt have to)the only secure service is special delivery.now ive been lucky and never had anything go missing in the post either way.
dont tar all us posties with the rotten apples. it shouldnt happpen as if the system is followed with handleing mail but as with any large system it sometimes fails.

just to clarify without insurance RM will at most provide compensation in stamps!

nah-ah. piece of card confirms it was in their possension, it's not been lost 'soemwhere' in the system. They have lost it at that depot, and i am damn well not going to accept stamps to compensate me for £65 worth of fuel injection parts.

i'm not, not at all - which is why i said in my first post that i realise that it varies all over the place.

I still can't see how you can loose a big ****ing box going from van to depot though

It was signed for delivery.

Dont tar you all mate(just the 3 I mentioned),I know your a postie;)

My view of RM has changed recently, I sent an ebay parcel which went missing, now to avoid further hassle I use recorded, the items are relatively inexpensive but I find that special can be a bit pricey considering the weight.

I find that this is a kind of ransom that RM holds it's customers too and it bloody annoys me.

Wonder what it will be like when other companies start doing mail?

Liam

Try using Royal Mail customer services section on their website, and say some first class post has been lost. It'll ask you when you sent it. if you choose a recent date, it says "You should allow 15 days for delivery". If you select a date more than 15 days ago, it says "You sent it more than 15 days ago. We may have lost it"! :p

was a chef(fine dining dontcha know :p ),then packed it in for uni.ran out of money so im a postie for now till i can get back :(

@liam,the market is open now but companys really dont want to do the delivery.
its the hardest and most expensive part. what they do is upstream the mail.basically they sort the mail into postcodes and then it goes into the RM mail delivery as normal.
RM gets X amount for delivery as controlled via pos****ch. when you read in the papers of mail volumes going down etc that relates to RM's total income. for a postie mail volume is increasing :(

so when you look at your mail and see things like TNT on there ,that is upstreamed mail
