Hi seeing as many are keen about koas vxr and st gets a bit of discussion 5th gear have both on their show tonight, cheers! Alex
ps. ch5 at 9 i think

An absolutely pointless head to head with the ST. How can you take an objective view of driving the cars with one hand only. Wasted opportunity in my opinion and just a chance for Needell to show off. I entered the competition though.

Forgot to mention the colour of that Ferrari F40, beautiful.

I actually thought it was a good point to make by driving one handed. Everyones been saying the Astra VXR torque steers so bad, well if that was the case then he'd have had no chance doing that. He also mentioned that the time difference was pretty much the same when driven normally. The VXR was also 15 seconds quicker round the Nurburghring so the result was never a surprise to me.
It was certainly better than that waste of space Vroom Vroom thing :D

oh my, how rubbish was vroom vroom - i saw one ep, and the tests they were doing on that.. waste of broadcasting bandwidth imo

id still have the ST over the VXR, no denying the VXR is a very good car - but there is something about the ST.

Torque steer or not, Needell could handle that car and others with far more power than most drivers could with two hands. It is a fast car but it's not a supercar. The only person I seen go on about torque steer was Clarkson and his credibility is questionable. For me I wanted to see them both on the very limit so as to compare with all the other cars they put around that track.

I for one would not buy one of these cars on the strength of that test, even so, if I win one Ill be happy:)

I can understand what you are saying, but surely the times from driving normal will be published somewhere. Although saying that the track was wet so even then it wouldn't give a good indication.
It's not supposed to be a supercar is it, or did I miss something, it was a hot hatch last time I heard

Clarksons review was done with pre production car and he's such an ass he refuses to change his findings although we have been informed recently the CAP have increased their Residual Value of Astra VXR by 6.25%
Following a Test Drive session of the Full Production Spec Astra VXR. Clarkson should take note of this and adjust his review.
