I think I did somthing really stupid earlier today. I was driving down the A23 going on to the M23 I could see the traffic lights ahead were red then they changed from amber to green, this was quite a distance from them though.

I was going along at about 37mph in a 40 about 5 metres from the traffic lights they went amber again then to red. I had no time to top at this speed.

The lights just changed with no warning. This caused me to go though a red light. I also got flashed, once though.

What does this mean? Do they flashed once, surely it's twice. This is unfair because I had no time to stop if I did it would have been dangerous.

Any ideas people?

Thanks again

unlucky, but I was always taught to slow down coming up to traffic lights incase they changed =/. I'd have thought its 1 flash and 3 points?

yeah the amber was on at about 5 metres from the traffic light. I was going at about 37mph. How was I suppose to stop? There was no one else around at the time and didn't pose any danger.

I drive a shed load around the country, and never had issues with red light cameras - personally, I put this down to inexperience and not reading the conditions properly :)

Was there no sign beforehand warning you, or even the box itself?

The traffic light camera only flashes once as it has no interest in how fast you were going, only that an offence has been caused. Speed cameras need to flash twice so you can work out the speed you were travelling. Gonna be a tough one that.

if it changed to amber 5m from the line @ 37mph you would be over before it went to red.
unfortunatly you are highly likely to get a fixed penalty on that one :(

so what are the chances?? only been driving 8 months now. I honestly had no control over this.

If I had of stopped, it would have been even more dangerous ie what might have been behind me??

most red light camera's are not digital, so it would have to have film in which a lot don't.

In reality unless there was a faulty light sequence you should have been able to stop easily.

Wellcome to the gang BP04 its a TS10 3 points £60 fine I had medical evidence when I went through theyr not interested done and dusted sorry mate just pray it doesnt arrive (n)

faulty light sequence?? I did change so quick though, amber, red then amber red again surely this isn't fair. I never have trouble with traffic lights...

theres a set of lights here that if you just let the clutch up and dont allecerate accross them they change back to red before you get half way across, so whats that 4-5 seconds?
