This thread could be in the bodycare thread, but will get more responses here, but mods feel free to move it. :)

Basically my housemates car was parked up this morning and a mercedes sprinter van ran down the side of it. The offender has offered to pay for the damage after denying he was there and did the damage but admitted it after being told the police would be involved as three witnesses saw him do it which suggests a checkered past

Anyway as my housemate is slow off the mark in getting everything sorted i thought i would help out. Here is a couple of pics i took of the damage....it is non fiat so excuse that fact  You can also see my sei in the background which is starting to look a bit sorry for itself

Anyway new rear headlight is required, and the bumper can be sorted out pretty easily, however the rest looks a panel beaters job. What do you reckon?????

How much do you reckon this would cost to repair at an accident centre?

The vehicle will also have to be picked up as it is a non runner as he has lost its one and only key :bang: How much is a callout??

Also can anyone recommend some good places in the north west and surrounding area??

Thanks :worship:

No idea how much it would cost to repair. Seems to be parked quite close to a junction...

Its ok to park like that so say the community police
You have not seen the parking in the surrounding streets, that is ok, its common to see parking ON junctions. (n)

its definitely a panel beaters job that. first thing to do is take it to a couple of bodyshops for estimates, and ask what sort of damage the car has (it could have gone structural).

edit - didnt realise it didnt have a key, so it cant be taken to a bodyshop, so instead see if anybody could come out to give an estimate, but as nobody will be able to get into the boot, it will be hard to give a fixed price.

will it not be cheaper to get one of the locks taken out and taking to key cutters and get them to cut a key? if you do it now then he will just have to pay for the key cut, where as leaving it he will have to get it picked up and still have to get key cut?

well its a similar system to fiat with the immobiliser and code in the key and it is the master key that was used i think, not too hot on protons

Careful driving it though - police might pull you for having a broken light.

Personally i would just claim the insurance.... if it has any. Cause that way they deal with it all.

id say scrap it!

or sell it for spares! if you can get it running, just get a new light, sod the metal work!

well considering its only done 16,000 miles from new it woudlnt be worth it although he is thinking of sellin :chin: it only is a non runner cos he cant find the key

A Proton like that won't be worth alot.

Anyway, what is it with people smashing into other peoples cars and then driving off. This guy at work was telling me that he witnessed a smacking into his neighbours Ford Focus before attempting to drive off before the guy waved at the offender and motioned that he'd been clocked.

Well considering the proton isnt the Persona model it is the newer updated Wira model the car is worth slightly more. ;) Apparently he has the keycode for it so can get another key, so i am told.

Anyway back to topic, anyone recommend any places? callout charges etc?

Cleeve Motor Salvage,

They have the same equipment that did the A-Pillar on Hellcats Derv Tipo.

Big Claw!!!

It's got to be scrap!

Failing that, one rear lens, do the window with a brick and replace with one from scrappy. Get locks while you are there.

Don't worry about the dent, not worth the hassle.

What a poor attitude on vehicles.

What would breaking the back window acheive??

The dent, its a 2000 reg car, it will rust if not repaired, and if he is selling it he will want as much money as possible.

any sensible ideas other than wrecking the car even more?
