Update, we are now just over four and a half grand mark. People from far and near have contributed, America, Canada. Just sharing the story with others is a big help. We are all just back from a cycle run in really wet weather. We hope to have the long run on the 24th of this month. I will post up pics. When the new electric bike is here. Once again thanks to all that have contributed....(y)

This is fantastic news Jim!

I hope you continually keep us posted on the situation with regular updates, that will neatly bump this thread back to the top where it belongs until the goal has been reached if you dont mind me saying so ;):)

Tomorrow is the long bike ride, starting off in our wee village and round the Black Isle over Kessock bridge through Inverness and back to our village. There will be a few stops for cake, bacon rolls, and refreshments at selected points :D Weather is not looking good, rain is OK but the wind can be a killer...(n) If you wish you can follow us on Facebook link above.

A big thanks again to all the members who has helped. (y)

Best of luck to everyone taking part, Jim! (y)

I hope the weather is kinder than you're expecting, and I'll be sure to follow that link.

Post back here and give us a round-up of the event :)

EDIT: Yikes - sounds a bit windy!

We all made it back, left 9.30am back 3pm Weather was very wet and very windy:cry: People along the route were cheering us on :) There were quite a few of us, daughters young nurse colleagues three very attractive came as well, gave me something to look at bringing up the year :D Bit of banter all round, there were some iffy moments traffic wise but hey ho no accidents. A bit emotional for me, I’m such a big Jessie these days

At the moment we are standing at 6800 quid including what was handed to us today. Again a big thankyou for all your support on here. When James gets his electric bike I’ll post up pics.

Cheers. Jim.

Thanks for your PM Jim.

I'm glad all went well and that you're all safely back!

Weather today has been particularly garbage here, so I'm well aware of what you must have encountered, and therefore doff my hat to you and your team that braved it all.

In spite of the weather and "interesting traffic moments" it sounds like you had a pretty darned good time of it. Excellent.

Nothing to be ashamed of, being emotional ...And worth remembering that only 'real men' are this way ;)

I wish you continuing luck and good progress in your quest, and certainly can't wait to seeing the bike pics here (y)
