I've not posted this in the Cinq/Sei section as it's actually for my family wagon Vauxhall Astra estate....

I'm needing new front tyres and there seem to be literally hundreds of tyres in the size I need (195/60R 15). As it's the family car, I don't want to go the cheap route of bargin bin tyres, so does anyone have any recommendations for this size tyre? Price isn't too much of an issue but want it to be reasonable!!

Thanks for any comments as I don't know the differences between them - just different treads!!!

The ones that keep appearing are the:
Pirelli P6000
Continental Premium Contact
Michelin Energy E3A
Goodyear
Bridgestone
Yokohama

Does this help?

Just tried it and you will need a password.

Basically it tested 195/65/15s and recommends several tyres:
Bridgestone Turanza ER 300. Score 70% Price, £ 58-£78
Goodyear Hydragrip. 66% £54- 70.
Continental Premium contact 68% £67- 73
Dunlop SP sport 01 66% £70- 74
Goodyear Eagle NCT5 67% £62- 70
Pirelli P7 66% £67- 74
Uniroyal Rallye 540 69% £58- 63

that website needs a login.

what about goodyear gt3...

Improved grip & steering stability; handling on dry & wet roads
Reduced fuel consumption/CO2 emissions
Reduced aquaplaning
Improved handling
uniform wear
Improved comfort through minimised noise levels

this is the best tyre around, (also the website is the best for tyre tests) http://www.tyretest.com/pkw_sommerreifen/vredestein/t_trac_si/index.html

Try pricing a set of BF Goodrich "Profiler 2" - damn good tryes, ran them on my old Lancia and subsequently on my ex-Renault Laguna and currently on my wifes Honda Civic.

They last for ages (got 25k miles out of a set on the Laguna), great all round grip and they shouldn't break the bank - look for your nearest "Hi-Q" tyre dealership, they usually do the best price on them.
