looking to upgrade my viano and came across this
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201907220325607
seller said its in his own name and reason for sale was he is upgrading to a V class, but when i asked if he had fixed the advisories on the mot he said "I didn’t fix nothing mate as this MOT was done with previous owner."
so seems he hasn't had it in his name long then as mot was April.
it has also had 6 monthly mots like a taxi but not the high mileage a taxi should have. am i missing something or could it has been clocked before every mot to keep mileage low.:chin:

MOT advisories are not a reason to turn down a car, but they are of course things to check as they may have degraded since the test was done.

MOTs often miss stuff. My car was done by a reputable garage but they totally missed a failing suspension bottom arm. It was enough to cause the car to tramline on motorways tarmac joints. My wife's 1.2 has started to do the same and that has just passed an MoT with no advisory on suspension.

I didn't turn it down just asked him if he had fixed it

Years ago..

My bangers would get 6 month MOTs..
At the cheapest garages..

This was a 2012 viano 8 seater but with only 77k miles on the clock
all the little things didn't sit right with me, it was registered in his name but the recent mot he claimed was done before he owned it, to me that could mean he is a trader who has registered it in his name to get v5c changed from taxi to plg, then the 6 month mots also indicate taxi, then the low mileage on a vehicle like this. i will never know the score now as i wont ever see it.

Use app like mot history, this shows all mot failures and advisories in last 10 years, also it plots the mileage year by year.
All you need is the reg number and make, wouldnt even bother to go and look at any car without checking on this first.

Some pics to show how it can verify mileage etc, the mileage one shows how clock has been replaced or turned back Screenshot_20190908-080402_MOT%20History.jpegScreenshot_20190908-080338_MOT%20History.jpeg

i did the mot check hence why i mentioned in the first post asking about the advisories from past mots, if its had mileage adjustment just before every mot this wont help that is what i suspect happened as it was a taxi but mileage is way too low for a 7 year old taxi.

As a taxi driver we have a minibus its only used sparingly compared to the cars, so has a much lower mileage
