Hi Peeps,

After 4 years driving my mum's nova, thought it was about time i got myself a car of my own and stopped spongeing off the olds!!

I will be sad to see the wee nova go, but as my mum is looking for a new car, I decided to hunt one down for myself, and after originally deciding on going for a BMW 325i, i changed my mind going on petrol (30 mile a day trip to work and back) and insurance (21 year old with zero no claims due to being a named driver for the past 4 years!).

Style with a bit of grunt was the only way to go, and bearing in mind insurance and petrol costs I have chosen my first car...... with the result being I am awaiting the collection of my 2001 Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16v tomorrow!

I was well impressed with the looks of the car from seeing them in pictures, but the wee girl is even better looking in the flesh!! I was amazed with the luxury of the car and its combination of sportiness and class.

Tomorrow cant come quick enough!!

Pics will follow as soon as I get them, and i already have a list of mods the length of my arm to which I am planning, the first being a set of 16's, sports induction kit, custom exhaust and a personlised number plate.

I will keep you posted and look forward to chattin to ya all.

dont know whether you know or not but with you being a named driver on your mums insurance for a few years she can pass on some of her no claim to you.
ie if she got 6 yrs at the mo she can give you 3 yrs and retain 3 yrs herself.
i didnt know this till the insurance told me.

cheers guys,

checked with the insurance company (direct line) because of circumstances - i.e. the racking up of all my student debt, just found out i had to get the finance through my mums name which means i can only be a named driver AGAIN![:(!]

Coz she is insuring two cars under her name (her present one and the punto) I am getting a cheaper deal coz she transferred her no claims over to the punto and put me as a named driver:D , so i suppose i am losing and gaining at the same time.

I will start my own policy one day!! [8D]

When i take over the finance in my name in january, i can then transfer the ownership of the car over to myself and then start my own policy (£742 a year fully comp for a 21 year old with zero no claims - wot u all reckon?? is that not bad?)

Will defo run mods through the insurance, paid enough for this motor to take the chance, but whats the deal with mods and your warranty? I got it extended till June 2005, and i dont want to lose out on it through mods

Mulge Man.
