Well, this time next week I'll be on holiday, for what feels like the first time in years.
Now, most of my 3 weeks is already filled by building work and car maintanence, but we were thinking of taking a trip for a few days.
We were looking at heading into the Alps, to find some cooler air, scenery and fun roads.
Maybe 2,000km over 3-4days.
Anyway, the dilemma is, which car do we take?
Or, rather, which car do I fix so that we can go?
Alfa 145TD
Has let me know in no uncertain fashion that it is due a new set of front wishbones. Have them in stock, but need to order a pair of tyres. I'm hoping I can get away with not doing the tracking this time, as it was set a year ago with new wishbones and I'll be replacing like for like (TRW).
Fiat 169 Panda 1.2/60
Supposed to be in perfect running order, but the ePAS has been playing up recently, which could make hairpin bends 'interesting'. Due a cambelt and waterpump change, again, have the parts ready.
Fiat Uno 1.0 Fire
An unknown quantity, though it was in daily use until recently and came with a wodge of reciepts (cambelt, water pump, radiator). Needs the brake master cylinder replacing and a service. Got all parts needed to make it go. Oh, and I suspect Madame will insist on a radio, I don't think it's ever had one.
Citroen Synergie/Evasion (Ulysee) HDI
No, just no. It's on winter tyres and I haven't even looked at the power loss/cutting out when hot problem yet.
Realistically, I have to sort the Alfa as it's my daily transport, the Panda is due a cambelt/pump and the Uno is my project, so they'll all get done.
I might even look at the Citroen...
Still, thought I'd give you a little poll to play with.
Best answers might get a postcard.
We're two large adults and a very large dog, if that helps.
