I was driving home today after work and I came across one of the most tragic situations as far as modified cars are concerned. It's not that the mods were badly done as they looked to be high quality (but totally tasteless). The work that I could see had been done included:

  • Custom front bumper with custom DRLs
  • Custom paint job on the folds of the car (so where the bumper has creases, the inside was painted red/orange
  • Similar orange/red story for the wheels
  • A bonnet scoop

But it's not that even these mods were made. It's that they were made to an Audi A6! How empty must your life be if you one day think "I know, I really want a bonnet scoop on an A6!".

I got a blurry shot on my dash cam and will upload in a bit, assuming they are remotely acceptable.

What is the most ridiculous car you have all seen? Extreme mods or cars you wouldn't expect to be modified in such a way. I am not talking about Corsas with stupid whale tails on as that's hardly rare! :)

Sorry for the size. I turned left at the roundabout so this is as near as I got to it.

Oh god that's actually hideous - I wasn't expecting that.

I've got no tolerance for these modifications where they have a black car, and then just throw another colour randomly ALL over it. There's a black TT near me - orange wheels, orange mirror, orange badges, orange trim around bumpers, orange spoiler, all sorts. Awful.

I think he's probably more on about the BIG bonnet scoop .....

I just noticed. He has no number plate on the front either. I haven't painted over it!

Compensating for something?

Some time ago I saw a basic, early Polo, on rusty original steel wheels, parked, sat on its bumpstops. It looked like all four springs had broken.
Then a couple of lads arrived and drove it away. Every bump was spine-jarring.
If it had had alloys, it would at least have looked deliberate.

Recently passed a Golf Mk3 on the M4. It was in the left lane, following the trucks at 56mph, so lowered that each bump unsettled it.
A sticker on the back said, "Please be patient - I'm lowered".

Nothing beats this for a bad modification.

Saw one a few weeks back on a blue Renault Megane cabriolet, in blue with all the little tacky chrome stickers and emblems all over it, like flames coming off the door handles and 70miles of the chrome trim tape covering every shut line and body lines.

Just to clarify, that is a light up perspect spoiler.

I'd rock that ironically. :p
