hello everybody, just about to lose my licence with 4 sp30,s any ideas what i can say to the judge to keep my licence.

cheers

No, sp30 is not just in a 30, iirc it's on any road except a motorway.

I have one from in a 40 zone, and my brother has one from a national speed limit dual carriage way, so definitely not just in a 30.

Further to that, a guy I used to know was always getting done.

He got up to 9 points, and was then caught way in excess of the national speed limit, BUT when it went to court he played on the fact that he had been unemployed for a year and had just recently found a job which he would lose if he lost his licence.

So the it was judged that it was in the best interest NOT to ban him, instead he received a further 2 points (taking him to 11), and whooping fine (around £800 - which was a lot to him at the time).

Saying this though, it was around 7 years ago, and attitudes towards speeding have now changed, a similar approach might not work today but it could be worth a try.:)

Ah ok - just looked on DVLA website, and it is this:

"Exceeding statutory speed limit on a public road.........."

SP50 is for motorways - so no idea why I got that as an endorsement!!

Well done James (y)

Sounds like it's probably the best thing - a break from driving to reflect on your actions, the consequences to you and the possible consequences if you hadn't been so lucky.

OK, got this from Tesco insurance:

SP30 - Exceeding speed limit on a public road.
SP50 - Exceeding speed limit on a motorway.

So it must have been motorway you were caught on.;)

Edit: too slow!

I do drive for a living but that is my only defence, Judges here that every day of the week, I need a new approach to this.

Take what ever they dish down to you, and hopefully learn from the experience.

SLOW DOWN....

Is it too difficult? Might save some ones life oneday.
When you got to 9 points didn't you think ' one more and I could get banned ?' and slow down ? Why not? Are you invincible?

I have been caught in the past and taken the punishment without trying to wriggle out of it with some lame excuse. You seem to be an habitual offender which may only change your, seemingly, total disregard to other people's life by a ban. What is the problem with you,? You are not a boy racer (if 1973 is your birth year) Why do you feel the need to speed everywhere?

Maybe extra training on road safety would be inorder after your re-test, after your eventual ban.

Have a nice day....
