Had similar problems on Fords,mice used to nestle under the bonnet as they sat in the docks/yards for ages...buggers used to chew through the wiring

Changed the pic hope it works now. My favorite bit is this post:

thats what has happened to my panda, the mouse even made a nest behind the dash
