Well, are you???

Personally I am. I don't like things I can't see that can hurt myself or people around me. I am worried what it could do to the country (and world) as a whole...

Hopefully all of the recent 'hype' will have been OTT and it will pass.

Nope not scared. Even in the unlikely event that it becomes a real problem the NHS has learnt from the SARS fiasco (which all turned out to be hype) and has the capability to deal with it.

Even if it doesn't, what're you going to do about it? :D:D No point in worrying.

Oh, ok, I'll put away my chemistry set then ;)

I think the NHS would struggle - it does badly enough with "normal" flu.

Tell the 774 who died from SARs it was just hype.

That's very harsh and misleading. It was obvious I didn't mean it like that.

To make it clear to everyone, nobody died from SARS in Britain.

From one who is in the at risk groups, NO! why worry, anyone who is worrying over this is just giving theirselves pain over something man cannot control, if it happens, which the experts say it will at sometime, it happens. For Gods sake enjoy what life you got and let the worrying happen if you catch it.

we all going to die, so might aswell go in a different way to most of the others, might even go down in history :)

Probably, our local KFC was in the news for selling uncooked chicken, there was a catalogue of previous offences too!:)

And it wasn't just the one outlet of KFC either...
They say you can't get bird flu from properly cooked chicken, so if you're in Belfast, I'd avoid KFC! :p

I thought it was only women who got it, I saw on the news it only affected "birds".

Once they know which strain it is they will be able to develop a vaccine for it, the only problem is how quick they can make 60M batches.

From what I remember from the news, they won't be making 60million batches, they'll make enough for the "at risk" group and the NHS lot, and I'm not worried about it. Just worried about my parrot :(

TBH i dont know what the fuss is about.

They're saying its going to kill millions yet has only killed 60 people in two years!

I think we'll start worrying when it actually reaches Britain in 2 years time ;)

already it has changed, as the H5N1 virus found in romania, is slightly different to the H5N1 virus found in greece. the worry is that someone with human flu catches H5N1, and it mutates so that it passes from human to human, if it does, then millions will die :( (i am going to stockpile supplies in my spare garage :))

What is a pandemic break out, I thought that just meant it crossed borders across the world. Before it can become a pandemic outbreak surely it has to mutate into a disease which can be transferred amongst humans. And for it to mutate doesn't it have to be in a human as a host to mutate and then that person needs to pass it on.

I think they are now worried about a normal flu outbreak as well as these tend to happen every few years.

Still there's not much point being concerned until it actually happens because you can't do anything to stop it.
