On on the search for a new job again (bored with mine now, but then it is a call center. was happy with last one but was kinda forced out! )

Im interested in getting into something like a special heights team. You know like the ones who absail to clean/paint/fix things. Like on oil rigs and "different" shaped large buildings.

The only problem is im not sure how to get into this sort of thing. My father once tried to set something up for me but nothing ever came of it, some bloke giving me the run around (n) :bang:

Anyone do this type of thing or know someone who does? Id really like to find out how to get into this. (y)

All help much appreciated (y)

Looks like you would need some official training before applying for a post in something like that.

I'd phone round a few companies who do similar stuff and politely ask where they train there guys, never know you may even get an offer!

SKY yeah the satellite people have a special heights team for installing dishes over a certain height.

Try the electricity network, they have a lot of overhead cables to look after and install.

Personally I never like to be more than 6' off the ground.

I did have a leaflet off a company before but lost it when i moved.
Its costs a fair bit to do the training but its good money so i see it as an investment really.
Trying to find a company that does/uses it in the north east so i can get in touch with them, but no luck yet really.

Thats what im mainly looking for, some of them you have to agree to a 6 month contract so they can get the training fees back (and much more) but 6 months is nothing.
its just hard to find one, my father works offshore, might get him to ask about, thats how a got the last info leaflet.

Just incase anyone else is intereted in this sort of thing ive found you get much more info searching for Industrial Rope Access Training. :D

my sisters boyfriend is a fire proofer. he absails down the side of rigs, and fire proofs the rig (very dangerous work). he recently did some work on the gateshead sage building.
