I went for a slight detour on the way home from the g/f's tonight and went past a speed camera in a 40 zone....

as I went passed I made sure I was doing under the limit (39mph to be exact), and I actually slowed down when the limit changed, which is quite a way before the actual camera.

As I went past, the camera flashed, not twice but 4 times, is that usual?

There was a fast moving car going the other way, I dont know if this would trip the camera? But the pic will be of my number plate

Should I be worried? as I know I was within the speed limit.

No, if you were within the speed limit, even if it did flash by mistake, it will show when they check the lines on the road with your photos. I am sure it is possible that the car in the other direction triggered both by accident?

the marks on the road give them a idea of the speed you are doing i reckon so it should be ok :) strange tho cause all the cameras by us dont work on the other side of the road i got one i can see from my bedroom window and the cars go up my road at stupid speeds :(

4 flashes is strange the ones round my area that take a pic of the rear plate dont work on the other side of the road :D

i thought he had got confused with what i said :p i am a girl i like to repeat myself :D

I got caught by a camera from the other side of the road and did get fined. Although i am thinking of disputing it.

If you do recieve anything through the post you can request proof, sometimes that causes them to drop the case as they double check before sending anything out.

There was no markings. It was in completely the wrong place.
I had just come off a roundabout and was still on a bend when it got me.
There is supposed to be so many hundred yards of straight.

The lines on the road at a speed camera is what they go by that is why there is nomaly two flashes>two photos. They count how many lines you crossed between the two shots and then can work out your speed. I guess the other car triggered it.

You probably were flashed by something other then a GATSO and was more likely a Truvelo, They face forwards and flash the driver too.

Gatso can accidentally photo you but you are not allowed to be prosecuted by law as they are not calabirated to measure speed in that direction and were not designed for that purpose so therefore could not do it accurately.

Cinqys the other car and yourself probably set off hte camera, the camera probably mistook you and the other car for ONE car not two seperate cars and the speed and opposite directions probably made it go off 4 times as it were so baffled.

I wouldn't worry about it mate. (y)

Only worry if you get a letter through the post..............as you said, you were doing below 40, so it should be OK

i thought they never

i always thought the only cameras that flash are gatso's and they flash from behind, aint it a bit dangerous to be flashed from the front

I would of thaught so, especially if the flasher was a good looking lady. (y)

"Whats that up ahead  Ooooh yeah, aaaargh splat"

If you're really bored, find a camera that's line of sight isn't quite in line (so if you go past in the opposition direction it will go off).

Get a mate to wait a bit in front of it with a digicam - then drive past on the opposite side of the road just over the limit when another car is going past in the other direction...

Some of the expressions people pull when they think they've just got a fine :D lol...
