hi any one on here a real gym buff

who has used the magic that is creatine. I have just started on it and i have been able to lift weights for longer than normal

so it must be that thats doing it.

I tried Creatine for a while around 3 years ago, I wasn't that impressed to be honest, I did seem to get a small improvement at first, but I think it was more of a pysciological thing, I was also eating very well at the time which seemed to be more beneficial.

Something at notice at one of the gyms I go to is a lot of the young lads starting out are flogged a load of supplements, when really all they need to do is eat better and remember not to overtrain.

I am not a great believe in creatine, I did 4-ish months on the stuff (480 tablets) and didn't notice a massive improvement, however I don't have much to compare with as I started using them when I strarted weights and gave them up when I stopped weights...

I think a mate who will train with you will give better results as you push each other and keep each other motivated.

edit- massive improvement compared to my mate, who was training with me...

i go to the Gym three to four times a week and i eat an absolute ton of food.

But my muscles are just not improving quickly enough and i am getting wound up by the pitiful amount of weight that i can lift with my arms

It's the same as with dieting, there are no miracle solutions except hard work. Sure some things can help you out but they're either bad long term (steroids) or don't work as fast/ well as they claim, as in this case. Sure it's handy to add on but it is no miracle. You still have to eat the right stuff and train hard.

I used to take it and found it was ok, but you were peeing a lot more, TBH, intellegent training will give you much better results, at the beginning you won't get much bigger but you will be lifting a lot more, the size gains will come later.

Theres no point eating a load of food, if it's ****, better off eating grub that is good for you.

If you're ectomorphic, you'll always find it hard to put size on.

Yep, same thing, a wee tip, take Vitamin B tablets to increase your appetite, the problem is that high protein low fat stuff like lean poultry, tuna etc, is pretty bland unless you stick on dressings etc.

I used to drink about 14 litres of skimmed milk a week, in the end I preferred the taste to normal milk too.

I do about 2-3 pints of full-fat milk each day, can't stand the other stuff

I could stick to a tuna diet, if I had the appetite all the time... don't think I could do the raw egg's :yuck:

I used to drink protein shakes aswell, got addicted to them :D... but still, there is nothing of me

I have "explosive creatine" by one of the best brands LA muscle. Not cheap at £45 a go but it's creatine with taurine and really wires you before a workout.
I have friends who used to be into bodybuilding that rubbished creatine, saying it just increases water in the body/muscles giving an impression of muscle gain. Personally I noticed no increase in muscle HOWEVER yes it did allow me 2 or 3 more reps than I could normally manage.
This is what creatine is for, explosive energy allowing you a more sustained workout.
I haven't touched it for a month though, not on purpose just clean forgot it was in the cupboard !!

It would seem that you have a fast metabolism, so if you want to get big, you're going to need to stop bouncing around, and train with more weight and fewer reps, you'll need to take a bit longer between sets though.

Size isn't everything, take a look at a decent 12 stone man like Chris Eubank, he looked great, although in normal clothes he doesn't look "big"

But at the end of the day, you'll just have to keep at it until your body responds.

Thanks for the advice mate, I'll give it a go for a few weeks....

I am going to show that to my parents, it will be my new excuse for being lazy ;)

i do have a reasonable diet and eat alot of veg. and an awful lot of pasta and meat.

and i am built very thin and lanky so may be thats why its taking its time.

i just want to have a set of great big biceps. lol

and being thin i guess thats why its taking so long

i tried creatine, did absolute nada for me. Your body produces it naturally anyway, and if you produce enough, the extra stuff you put in gets flushed right out (within something like an hour or 2).

As for getting bigger, high lean protein diet is a must. Whilst in the gym probably best to split the workout into seperate sections to avoid overtraining (you end up weaker and dont grow). Adhering to "proper" form is also a must, as does varying your workout all the time. I've found recently that taking a long time on the release of a rep works the muscles really well... You will also plateau alot, but stick with it and eventually you work through it :)

Its also good to work out with a partner as you do push each other. Unfortunately i usually train alone so rely on good old fashioned determination and some "inspirational" music.

Im happy to talk more if you want to, weightlifting is one of my lifelines  :)
