Off topic of thread off everything but the international 2CV meet was held in my town and the Barry Boys went under in a tidal wave of 2CVs. It was pur joy to watch! :D . For once the towns motoring didnt consist of bodykitted novas an green welly brigade range rovers. I was only sorry i didnt have a Panda 30 with which i could have gone cruising with. Just had to share my happy day with you!

2CVs make surprisingly good race cars as well.

I have a couple of photos of a 2CV racer which I will post if anyone's interested.

My mum used to have one, it was a brilliant car, I remember being sat in it when it was parked on a busy road. Rocking side to side... rather scary.

When I was in Scotland, there were loads of Bulgarian 2CV's with bolt on boxes on the back, all were painted very bright colours.

I'd rather have a Panda though!

Seriously? I'd never seen the boxes for the 2cv before, although I like the one that you can get for the Panda.

The only 2CV I see regularly is a nice red one that is parked in Donegall Pass, and it's VERY clean, must be worth a few quid!

I had a couple of Dyanes with a boot-box in the 80's. Amazing things. I even moved from Lancashire to Yorkshire in one.
Panda's are better though............ (y)

A little bit more than your Panda Steve!

The most expensive one on Auto Trader at the minute is £1500.

This one is lovely though;

1989CITROEN 2 CV6, F reg. 57000 miles, Garaged all its life, very good condition inside and out, great colour, lots of receipts, every thing works, long MoT. £1,150. ono.

I'm off to count my pennies...

the thing about 2cv's, is that they rust. a panda after ten years will have rusty doors and a few little scabs, but a 2cv will be a mound of orange dust, some tyres and a windscreen :)

I've been travelling up the A1 and back every day this week (to work on a substation at Spennymoor), and I've seen hordes of the wee Froggy beasties slowly rattling their way up north :D they're cool but they can only just reach 60mph! :eek:

They were going to Kelso in the scottish borders. There are some real rarities the corrugated CITROEN H Vans,DS, Dyanes, even a Visa as well as some very early cars like a glassfibre bodied coupe that i thought might be a Bijou. Just for once my town felt cosmopolitan and less like a right wing enclave. And talking about Italian French design the FIRE engine was partly designed by peugeot apparently.
