TomTom SAtnav.

TomTom SAtnav.

It IS the best yes, especially the recent release of version 5. Best feature of that is walking mode (really useful round London city center) and avoid motorways routing for when there's traffic or you want country road driving fun!

I've got the mobile version, which is exactly the same really, just smaller screen.

Works perfect on both SPV C500 and Nokia 6600. It'll work on other Symbian Nokia's as well, like the recent 3G ones and 7610 and others.

Check out www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk - The forums are good, and that's where I got the speed camera database from for alerts as you drive around.

You get it free on the monaro van also so vauxhall mustve got some knock off ones in!!!!

To throw a spanner in the works, TomTom is the best, but is quite expensive, unless you do it the PDA/Nokia phone way!

I have medion sat nav and i rate that just as highly and is cheaper to buy than tomtom!

The high spec TomTom Gos can be linked with a GPRS-enabled phone via bluetooth, then act as a handsfree kit, and also automatically download traffic info, so it can reroute you around delays.
We had a small issue in France with it getting slightly confused about how to get to a petrol station (it got us within 100 metres, but on the wrong road), but apart from that, it took us door-to-door from Oswestry to Nurburg and back with no real problems.
The Medion may be cheaper, but what maps does it come with? My TomTom has the whole of Western Europe. Also, the mount that holds it on the windscreen works well. One of the lads who had a PDA that mounted on an airvent accelerated hard, and the PDA, the mount, the GPS module and the airvent itself all flew in to the passenger's lap! :D

I use tomtom go very often and I can't fault it at all really. Only problem I ever have had was yesterday. I had a 2 o'clock interview for a trainee accountant job. I typed in the wrong address (another accountants firm I applied for) and was 30 minutes late for a job interview  ...still got it though! :D

the medion you get the uk and ireland maps, you have to buy europe seperately.

As for the mount again i think it works fantastic, yet to fall off!! :D

Free update when ever you want to download. It is really simple/easy to use! Great addon to the tomtom. It lets you know where all of those dangerous bits of road are, so you can be extra careful ;)

TomTom do offer "Safety" cameras as one of their Plus services, which you can subscribe to for 70 euros a year. Alternatively you can download them from PocketGPSWorld (as I have just done). There, you can also download loads of other Points Of Interest. I've just put petrol stations and (shhh, don't tell anyone) McDonalds ones on mine.
Unfortunately (for someone  ) there isn't a Subway one..... yet.
