Boreville..like our Orville but specced by someone with a grasp of economics..and no sense of fun, grey and black bleurgh..also no snail under the bonnet so 82 horses.

Strange how 2 such similar cars can be so different.

MiTo passed MOT yesterday, with a single advisory for the wheel bearing I'd just replaced last week

there are now half a dozen of these in the carpark at work, all with the same numberplate except one letter at the end.

All totally boring like the one in the picture, except for one with orange wheels which looks a bit odd and all brand new. I think they must be pool cars for one of the departments as they are devoid of any personal items and seem to disappear during the day and all be back lined up at home time, but we never see anyone getting in or out of them and no one in our department knows anything about them.

This particular one is the Citroen dealerships courtesy car. Strange they went for this when they seem to take great pride in having a row of around 15 used C3s out front with no 2 in the same colour and spec.

Given our colour was free...you actually pay more for blandness. Seen a few grey ones tbf, usually driven by a gentleman of a certain age.

Yes. Time to stand around in cold car parks. Silly, but somehow enjoyable.

Just had to pop to Tesco. It's raining so I went in the underground car park. In the evening it's usually full of mouthbreathers in ten year Fiesta ST's and the like. Tonight though one of them was in brand new Civic Type R! Surely if you're doing well enough to afford one of them your past hanging out in car parks of an evening!

Or:
Daddy's company car.

Or: Own company car.

The civic seems to be getting even uglier with each new incarnation. Such a shame, underneath the strange exterior is a very good car.

Re: What's made you not grumpy but not smile either today?

Lost a headlamp bulb last night, not entirely unexpected given they were 3 year old Phillips Diamond vision..amazed they lasted this long given my old osram nightbreakers used to last 6 months at a time. Had a spare but not a Diamond vision so totally the wrong colour, not doing it..looks crap and wasn't going out in the dark today anyway.

Got a pair of direct replacements overnighted and resolved to fit them after work, it's normally a 30 second job..oh no it's not..doing it 1 handed in a 60 mph wind holding the bonnet from blowing off was fun indeed.

An well 5 minutes later it was done..hopefully until after the car is sold if they last 3 years again. Very glad it's not one of those ridiculous jack it up and or take the bumper off jobs..

Watching an old Top Gear DVD with my mate. God, things used to be so much better: cars used to be so much nicer, music used to be better, etc.

Gradually moving all my stuff to my flat. Happy and excited to be starting my new life, but at the same time, a little bit sad to be emptying the room at my parents' house that has been my home for the last 25 years.

Shouldn't such a statement be in the grumpy thread?

Moving from Mazda to Peugeot is likely to bring disappointment.

I initially had the same thoughts and didn't even look at them. But first off a new Mazda 3 requires a spare wheel to be bought at circa 300 quid. Also the design of the boot means that if I do that the new car is smaller than the old one.

That and the end result of some fairly significant internet digging into likely faults on the Peugeot turned up one recurring fault of cracking welds on rear beams which are replaced f.o.c. and some minor none show-stopping electrics.

Also because it's french and not a Golf they aren't in demand so a year old one with a glass roof, climate alloys e.t.c. with 8000 miles is 11k up. Oh and they actually won JD power this year(!?).

Money versus what you get..well a 308, and 3 year old leggy Golf or a poverty spec one which is just as likely to break down or an ecoboom Focus.

Not entirely decided yet, need to drive one for a start and might hate it...but looking into them I was surprised.
