No-one is entitled to anything. I'm not denying the amount of effort he's put into his career, or the fact that he's been very lucky to be in command of some very good vehicles. There's a lot to be said for being humble though. I'm also not stupid enough to say I'm a better driver than him, I know I'm not, he doesn't have to bash us all over the head with it though.

Won a Punto Abarth on eBay. Expecting it to be the 120 t-jet to use as a donor for my coming Cinquecento project.

Turned out to be a bogo 77 Grande with some Abarth stickers and bits the seller didn't know and genuinely thought it was a Punto Abarth. My fault for not asking for the number plate sooner to check.

I'm still buying the car but for a bit less.

I'm going to say this now: I don't follow F1, so I haven't seen any of Hamiltons results.

However, if his lap times aren't as good as other drivers, then he should just accept that, and try to up his game. I'm a BTCC fan meself, and if 1 of the drivers I support is off the pace and gets grumpy, then I feel it's down to them to sort it out.

I've been following F1 for 30 odd years now. Whenever I watch touring cars and MotoGP I enjoy the racing more. Only occasionally do I get the same enjoyment from F1. I think F1 is a bit like a soap you get hooked on the characters and need to keep watching to see how the story unfolds. I used to prefer it when the engineering was simpler but also more diverse - the days when there were V8s, V10s and screaming V12s on the grid. This year's Championship was fascinating until Ferrari imploded pretty much handing the title to Hamilton and Mercedes - I'm no fan of Hamilton but this year he has earned the title with the best driving of his career. I'm not sure anyone could've beaten him this year - even in the same machine. With fewer changes to the regs I think next year could well see a close fight to the last race between several different drivers/teams (if Honda and Renault can iron out their engine issues).

You're missing my point. He acts like he's entitled to be on pole for/win every race. He's not. He hasn't earned that right, he has to earn it every time he goes out, as do the other 23+ drivers.

You could say the same for all recent multiple champions. It takes a huge amount of self belief verging on psychosis (Look at Vettels antics this season!)

Don't like the guy particularly but nice guys are not multiple champions in F1. I was a lot more annoyed by him when he lucked into his first championship from Massa by a single point then appeared on adverts everywhere the very next second. He has kinda earned the right to be annoying now..

I had my first experience driving in Italy this week. I’ve visited before but never driven. I flew from Stansted to Rome Ciampino (Ryanair, not my choice) on Sunday Afternoon and then drove to L’Aquila about 75km east in the mountains. Avis gave me an Opel Mokka (CDTI but not a Fiat engine) rather than a Fiat. It was a manual so a bit more of a pain to drive on the “wrong” side. Rome and the autostrada were OK but L’Aquila was a nightmare. I had my own GPS (with up-to date maps) but it did not help. Anyway I made it to the hotel without hitting anything. I had a couple of trips in Tipos as a passenger. One was a Saloon and the other was an estate. They seemed OK I might even consider a used estate if they ever sell them in the UK. I also realised that the Italians from Rome were having just as much trouble with navigation. L’Aquila suffered a 6.3 earthquake in 2009 and it looks like lots of roads were changed to avoid damaged areas. So Driving in Italy was generally OK but not in L’Aquila.

On both uk mazda 3 forums and a facebook group for the same.

Christ the demographics couldn't be more different, the uk forum is mainly blokes in their mid to late 50s and 60s. The facebook group is not...it's filled with Americans who see DSC off as hero mode on..

I'm about halfway between the 2...so having the devils own time not pointing out that the only reason the DSC is slowing you down is because you're driving badly. Drive smoothly, don't loose traction and it'll let you go very quickly indeed..but no..we shall let them continue to think the reason the light is flashing is because their skills are too good for the car.

There is a road closed in our village which means you have to turn left. right and left again as the diversion Tonight as I'm turning the final left I noticed some headlights on the closed road. Thinking it was a resident I pulled out only to find it was a BMW doing about 50 along the said closed road, which is a 30 limit. He then flashed me loads ( as I pulled out on him, my fault) and tailgated me.

Boy, did I stick rigidly to every speed limit for the next 10 miles! Remembering my driving lessons "you should be going slower than the speed limit as you pass the signs and not speed up until you pass them again".

Someone took the mirror cap off the C3.

Thankfully the didn't run it over..so it popped back on and their paint has polished out and the indicator on the end of the mirror survived.

Didn't stop naturally..

Awoke to a good snowfall, went back to bed.
Much later, the neighbour's kids opened the front door and were surprised/excited with the snow.
But they did not know it was there until they opened the front door!
So how long is it for you from getting out of bed to looking out of the window? For me it is often the first thing I do, although sometimes it has to wait until after the loo.

Then of course, they spend the next hour throwing snowballs at each other, until bored with that. Then went in again.

Later pooped out again to help clear the snow from the car. Pushed it all off, creating a snowdrift behind the car, preventing them going anywhere. Much shovelling followed.

Just before they left, mother got a phone call, during which her friend asked if they'd built a snowman. Big squeal of surprise/delight, they hadn't thought of that! No imagination? Too late then, off they went in the car, at well below walking pace.

Now more neighbours, across the road, in their early twenties, have built the biggest snowman they could manage, on the front of their drive. Might be a problem going to work tomorrow then. Car theft prevention perhaps?

Me for shooting a fish in a barrel earlier.

New Year's Day.
Fireworks went off at 4:37pm, and now again at 5:42 pm.
Has the new year started already then?

Will await the 10pm fireworks, one house down the road does this at 10pm, Nov 5th, Halloween, Christmas day and new year's eve. What's with the timing?

Surely, New Year's day, is either midnight, or not at all?

Have little voice in my head saying "that battery is 6.5 years old, this car hasn't been on a long trip in a month and the last time it moved was Thursday and it's minus 2...if it's going to fail..it's today"

The ice on the roof has built up to 3d...

Well she started...though I did make sure literally everything was off before I tried the starter and it still cranked over about half speed so cold cranking power ain't great!

Can confirm it's snowed, and hailed, then rained and frozen on it and there's been about 3 frosts since it moved..actually had to defrost the door handle as the rain had run over it then froze the section that pulls out to the other part of the handle! Oh and as it was raining torrentially last time it was used so had some condensation..the inside of the windows had frozen..

Working from home...it's hard on cars!
