Deleted Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Amazon, Google Account and going to do Snapchat and WhatsApp later. Not a fan of these companies abusing their influence on the world right now, so all I can really do is just not be a part.

I just bought an new iPhone and M1 Mac about two weeks ago and I'm afraid they might be going as well if I can find anything as good that's free of Google. Some good Linux laptops but nothing in the phone end. Sad times.

I’ve got a lot of respect for you doing this. Obviously though a computer and a phone have many uses beyond social media and are very good creative tools.

Sadly in the modern world it seems you’re almost forced to subscribe to using these apps and services just to keep in touch with people

Yeah they've really got us by the b*lls to be honest. It's the WhatsApp bit that'll be hard to give up though, as it's the one messaging app everybody seems to be on whether they're on iPhone or Android.

Even tonight as I find myself without Facebook to endlessly scroll on, decided to subscribe to unlimited access to magazines for around a tenner a month. Much better occupying my time getting some ideas together for DIY projects when I eventually move out and buy a home - planning that for August.

There is one thing I'll give to the EU that I don't think anywhere else in the world has really put the foot down as much, and that's how they're forcing the likes of Facebook to give us the last word in demanding to know what they do with our data, whether we want it gone etc.

I think the US is making a big mistake at the minute, especially with everything happening, to not regulate it. Sometimes it's a real blessing to be in the UK though because a glance over the Atlantic makes nothing here feel quite so bad lol , not grumpy, not smiling I suppose is the phrase!

Obviously it plays into the hands of the current administration to regulate it, and what regulations they did push for back fired when they started putting warnings on all trumps tweets.

These companies are a bit like drug dealers, we become reliant on them and they keep leaching off us. The problem is even without he likes of facebook they are still tracking you across every website you use and for every website you visit, there can be literally hundreds of tracking cookies dumped on your computer, either you "accept cookies" or you get booted back to google for not accepting them or the website won't work properly.

Yes mayo that has been accumulating for a long time (51K) via the breather pipe. There was also a suggestion that some was directly through the throttle body as that was oily and the sealing ring contaminated. There was an heck of a lot of it we are talking 100 - 200cc / ml. at least. The car has been transformed by the clean and goes like a rocket. Its the most effective job I have ever done to a car in terms or improved performance. Vis a vis, a lot of wheel spin the first time I set off! I am going to do the 2014 car as soon as the new torx bit arrives... It fits (badly) on a 10mm socket and is the size of a glow plug too. I had another two hours searching today with a USB endoscope. I may... have caught a glimpse but cannot yet be sure. This is a really good tool now I have found the brightness control and you get a decent colour pic / video on your phone with no effort.

I have not decided yet what to fit but think there is a thread on here that I will probably re read and follow, will post some pics once done. It (they)will be a proprietary job from ebay .

It was a bit parky here today but we had a thaw last night (7.5C for a while) frost expected back tonight. I can work in the garage but mostly work outside for better light. May be once my rewire is complete this may no longer be an issue.

Ive been watching Joshua Philipp who reports for Epoch Times/Crossroads. Ive had people say Epoch are right wing nutters and some such. Those folks really need to look at what Epoch Times are really about. They were created by Fallon Gong practitioners who escaped the CCP. They are banned from China.

It turns out the Capitol building "break in" happened before Trump said he wanted a peaceful march. The words Twitter claims amount to incitement were said after the break in had started though nobody knew at that point. It's now unclear if the people were actually let in by security police. Who knows on that.

The interviews below are being ignored by mainstream media but show there is some really scary stuff going on across the pond.

Michael Yon war correspondent who has covered the Hong Kong riots. Professional agitators triggered the riot with people calling them out from the start.

5 minutes of looking into what they are “really all about” reveals that the leader of the Fallon Gong group believes he can levitate and walk through walls also that aliens have been invading the minds of humans and planting ideas for them to invent computers.

But I’m sure you’re right they seem completely legit ?

Similar smears can be done on any religion. One way or another they all believe in metaphysical magic.

Hopefully you don't think it's all fine for CCP to use religious people (Fallon Gong, Muslims, Christians) as farm animals for transplant organs? I assume you don't think such a thing, so before dissing Joshua Philipp watch the reports or read his articles. He is one of the few today who offers genuine journalism.

We are entering a seriously frightening situation where truth and opinion are being deliberately conflated. It's done all the time in China. Hopefully we are not heading the same way.

One of the scarier things about the modern world is people can decide they want to only read news from their point of view..yes it's always happened to an extent but the fragmentation of news sources means you can literally avoid news that disagrees with your world view.

Now I follow a reasonably broad range of sources from news but having occasionally looked at the American right news sources they are not so much anti-Biden and pro-Trump as they are anti-mathematics and reason.

But if you've moved off the news that tells you things you don't like to ones that do...I can understand why people would be so incensed by the "steal".

You had websites still showing Trump ahead when the race had been called. If you query the difference "MSM is lying to you".

At this point Trumpism is more of Cult/Religion than anything based in reality. Declares anything he doesn't like a hoax, attacks anything that goes against him even the country he is meant to be guardian of. Has literally no proof for anything he says and yet waves away anything that is bad for him.

strangest thing about that was black n brown people there supporting trump, if he got 4 more years a lot more of them would have been killed, and the white guys they were standing together with are the same white guys who were anti blm and causing the trouble at the blm protests :confused: thats well fecked up
 
On an entirely different note...

Was expecting the beast from the east mk2 last night wife was work finishing at midnight.

Now I used to stay up until she got back because I have snow socks etc. if she gets stuck somewhere and it's nice to see she's back. Looked out of the window at 10pm it's raining, I'm knackered so went to bed.

In she comes at half 12, "Nice to see you were concerned!" I made some confused noises and looked out of the window there's at least an inch of fresh snow and the road is covered. Also the C3 is parked facing down the hill so she's come over the fell the top of which is over 750ft and has a steep hill either end.

At this point my response was "why did you come over the fell?!?"
"It wasn't snowing at work didn't realise until halfway"
"Did you have any bother?"
"No"

So guess the tyres worked for her then, occasionally think throwing away 4 13000 mile old Michelins was a bit daft but think I'd have been getting a phone call last night if I hadn't.

It’s called cherry picking, it’s what people do, part of their makeup. Been happening long before devices and and the ‘web. The only difference now being we have devices and social media which obviously equates to much higher audiences. Of course as we all know you can hide behind your screen and spout practically anything you want. It happens on here quite a lot in minor disagreements as with other social media sites, and of course we have the conspiracy nut jobs which is happening at the moment.

Trump was castigated from the outset. He is a loud mouth with locker room banter but he did none of the bad things he is accused of. He also delivered what he said he would deliver. Probably a first in US history. Every one of the campaigns against him was shown to be fiction. He was accused of collusion with Russia - yet another scam completely disproven. The collusion was actually Biden and his son, but thats been kept very quiet. We cant have the truth getting out can we?

The riots last week were pre organised with professional agitators setting it all up. The timeline to blame Trump does not add up The break-in happened before Trump's speech where the media allege he said bad things. The time-line does coincide perfectly with the beginning of the debates on the election results. They achieved their aim to stop the debates and the media are finishing the job by suppressing the facts and blaming it all on Trump.

But none of that matters. The Left have their control and they are using it. They are following the playbook to the letter. Control of media, control of mass communication, control of the legal system, control of levers of government, control of the election process and now they control the political power in government. They even control what people are allowed to say.

Call it what it - Communism.

Despots like Hitler (who was a hard left statist) and Stalin killed tens of millions. Mao Zedong horribly killed more than Stalin and Hitler put together. Communism has directly killed at least 100 million and a great many more when the economic damage it causes are added up.

Mmm, you’ve called suppression, and then you on to say what you think, pulling together several things that you believe, and that’s that attitude, is that not suppressing others with a different slant on things. You seem to have first hand knowledge that others on here do not, but don’t believe anyway.

When I said cherry picking, I was generalising about things are said on here across the board about any subject.
