Re: FF Monaco F1 GP trip

Joe, that's eurostar, different, eurotunnel or le shuttle or whatever is the cars part, eurostar is the passenger only, cars only go from Folkestone to, erm, not calais but close, near sangat. EDIT: Apparently it is Calais.

Assuming you drive, best thing to do is drive to Nice and stay there, get the train in on the days you want to go (i.e. sat/sun) and return in the evening, that way you want to need to break into a bank...

If you fly, again, fly to Nice from a London airport (usually cheapest due to high numbers flying out) and again, hotel/camping outside of Nice then train down each day.

Or....eurostar to Paris, TGV to Nice, stay in Nice...yep, you get the idea

Stuck, I'll review later if this dies.

I would be interested, depending on circumstances at the time.

I think this is a great idea as I know someone who is going this weekend in his integrale. From everyone I have ever spoke to about it, it's supposed to be great weekend with a real party atmosphere in the camp sites and some great cars, plus you can get really close to the action as opposed to F1 which can be little restrictive.

Another of my friends went to Spa in Belgium which is one of the cheaper F1 weekends and is a great track with plenty of action.

PS in my prvious job as an interior designer I did some work for Ron McCulloch in Glasgow who used to own the Mal Masion hotel chian and now happens to own half of the Columbus hotel in Monaco with a certain David Coulthard! (tho even with a discount it would be way way to expensive to stay there especially that weekend)

Re: FF Monaco F1 GP trip

Well some more suggestions as to what we COULD do...

The whole point of the Thread is a dream trip to the Monaco F1 GP so lets just go along those lines for now and see who would seriously like to go, and under what conditions we need to do it, to incourage more FF members to join us

Options...

I read that it's wise to stay in Nice, not monaco and get the train or Bus in to watch the racing. It's a far cheaper option for one thing and facilities for cars are extremely limited..

Another options is to actually take a coach tour down there, which would save our cars and cut down on the toll prices, and also make things a lot easier to organise.

The convoy option is probablly the most fun but much harder on the pocket and organising will be harder. It's possible we would need to stop for a night somewhere in France.

We could even get a plane which is suprisingly cheap and a hell of a lot less time consuming if there are Kids involved with the trip.

Alex is looking into some prices and stuff and i'll do the same. Anyone else with any more ideas ?

Re: FF Monaco F1 GP trip

I've just got off the phone with the monaco tourist board, they're going to send me 2006 prices, the average price rise is 5% per year, so I'll factor this information into my calculations.

As far as acommodation goes, I'm looking into KeyCamp/EuroCamp Hotels, and whatever is available in rentals, just to give an idea of what the posibilities are.

Hiyas im new to forum tho looking to buy a fiat in september

Paris to Nice 940 K/m and according to Michelin it'll take u 8 hrs 30mins lol, btw the french motorways are sweeeeet alot better than the concrete M25 . The Eurotunnel is off the M20 near outside of Folkstone and it comes out just west of calais, very easy to get onto the motorway from there

Re: FF Monaco F1 GP trip

Yeah it needs to start early, so we have time to organise things. Nobody need panic do anything much untill probably about this time next year... but I'll say this now: If you want to go, you'll need to get your tickets as soon as they're available, and book accommodation as soon as you can.

as things progress KoA and myself will starts threads/polls as necessary.

Re: FF Monaco F1 GP trip

I like the signature Alex Nice idea

I was talking this over with Chrissy (my wife) today and she's just as determined as I am to go to monaco.

I like the idea of mangy cours, but only as a last resort if the Monaco GP falls by the way side. It will be a far cheaper option but if i'm going to any GP i would choose Monaco and i think there are a few that feel this way.
The whole point of going there is because it's something that most of us normal folk would NEVER get to do in a lifetime, so lets keep our sights set high and aim for the big one

Applesei mate, if we waited till next year to start the thread, i don't think many people would have the time to get the finances sorted. This is something that will happen and i think the only way some people are going to be able to join us is by giving loads of notice.

I think for starters we need to make a copy n paste list of those that feel they would really like to do this. There's no commitment involved yet but it would be a good start to get an idea of numbers involved, then we can start to look into our options.

I'll start the list, please add your name if you would like to be included in the plans, or delete if you reconsider. Also try to estimate how many people would be joining you.
