Anyone know why we have signs on forecourts banning use of mobiles?

The guy in the kiosk gave a shout over the tannoy (but my cam doesn't pick it up) & the guy ignored this.
Even the driver of the mixer can be seen gesturing to his mate from the kiosk.
As I got out, I heard them talking - Polish or similar.

Good job I subscribed :D
Surprised they never hit the emergency pump button and shut every body off until he'd stopped!

Forecourt operator should have shut the whole forecourt down. One button. I used to do this when ignored on the PA system. A quick announcement as to why all the pumps have been stopped and the other 8 people on the forecourt shouting at the moron tends to make them stop

Didn't myth busters or someone similar prove it's bullsh*t?

Dom

Prove what is bull ****

They prove using a phone to make a call or send a text won't do anything, but haven't proven dropping it and the battery flying out won't, or the metal case of a modern iPhone hitting the floor and sparking, or the lack of concentration by the operator resulting in a large spill on the forecourt.

Only 5L has to be spilt and legally the fire service have to be called to attend! 5L isn't much.

I think the original reason was because the first radio phones could potentially spark and crackle from the antenna, when the power levels where much higher however these days the risk is minimal to none. the dropping phone idea is kinda valid but again unlikely plus you don't have to be making a call to drop the phone or a set of metal car keys etc

I subscribe to your lack of concentration theory though, i mean seriously who needs to pump fuel while on the phone, what is so important you can't wait 3-4 mins. I some how managed to pour about half a litre on of diesel on the ground a few weeks back because someone took my attention for a couple of seconds, if you're in the middle of a lengthy call then thats a lot more that a few seconds, and a much bigger spill.

so not so much a fire risk but a severe idiot risk (y)

Anyone use a Dual camera setup? Records front and rear of the vehicle?
Not too many out in UK atm... either cheap (i.e. bluelotus i1000 - unreliable) or very expensive (Blackvue DR550GW - Poor bit rate ) :(

If you use one, which one? and is it worth getting over a GoPro Hero2 camera (Not intended to be used as a dash cam but seem to need one)?
