Who on here uses Waze?
For those who do not know, Waze is a kick ass little app thats basicaly a sat nav app. only thing is, its interactive! it can be updated by other people using waze to tell you how the traffic is, if theres any speed cameras, if the police are doing stop checks, and if theres any road hazards.. you can chat to other road users.

see the video they have on the website..

its more big in the US but it works just as well here (in the UK)

the app works on Android, iPhone and Black Berry.

ive been using it now a week or so when i go out and about with family, and its saved us twice from being stuck in traffic jams!

well worth looking into i cant rate it high enough.

if anyone has it, i have it on most of the time, user name is JohnDragonMan

I used it on my old Windows Mobile phone (HTC TouchPro 2), when it first came out in the UK... -- but the information, at the time, wasn't very accurate or complete. Probably not enough users.... :(

It's good to hear, though, that it is now fulfilling its potential. If my iPhone 5 ever arrives, I shall give it another go! Thanks...! (y)

Jokes.
For ages, I seemed to be the only one in this town using it - then this afternoon I came across a few going right by me. Tried looking out for the telltale screen mounts but not obvious.
I've already got a few dozen points for pointing out umnpteen traffic snarls, a couple of police speed cameras and a fixed camera.

Got a nice long journey down to devon tomorrow so I'll see how it goes.

Just been looking at the live map on their web page. Amazing how many are doing 55mph along a motorway.
Seeing as how they have your details, I wonder if you could be reported or even covertly monitored?

It's a great thing means they catch less people speeding (they think they've done their job and meet targets) and allows them to do real police work like catching people without Tax, Insurance, License etc :D.

On a side note...I've got a few people driving without tax/insurance just because they were speeding, also drink drivers. Wouldn't have pulled them over otherwise ;).

That is true, but I imagine more serious crims are caught with ANPR and active traffic officers. Stopping them for no insurance / tax etc and it turns out they've got weed or are wanted for burglary etc.

I can remember an episode of road wars where they stopped a brand new Porshe for no insurance and he turned out to be a drugs courier with £80,000 worth of drugs in the car.

Out and about today, coming back on the oxford ringroad, the thing was going haywire with all the alerts for jams up ahead & the navigation took me on a country road around all the crap.
My tomtom and the route planner app on the phone never took me down that route before, I always had to pootle along in slow traffic.
Also love the way the navigator lets you know how far to go & gives an ETA.
"looks like slow trafic ahead, ETA now an additional 25 mins"
"looks like traffic's moving freely, ETA now 11 mins less" (y)

My tomtom's hard drive died the other day, might not bother buying a new one now I've got waze.

nice glad you like it! i cant wait to use it when i am driving.

you just always kinda get scared when a sat nav takes you down back lanes though, eh. hehe

you do have the option to turn off "dirt lanes" but i wanna be a man! im gonna leave them on!.. besides ill have drive anywhere mode >_<
(within resion)
