We're moving soon and our new place doesn't have a virgin cable line in the area which is a shame because we love our Tivo and stupidly quick broadband.

anyway looks like we are going to have to get Sky TV and broad band package i'm going to assume a few people on here (regular posters) are sky customers, have any of you got recommendations or advice as to what to go for? what's their customer service like? what is there broadband like ? etc

any help will be greatly appreciated

Sky TV is great. The modern HD boxes have plenty of recording space etc, are fast and rarely crash (once in 2 years for me).

The broadband is very hit and miss, it's all very dependent on:-

1.) How many other people in area are on Sky broadband.
2.) Line quality.
3.) If it's SKY LLU or BT Wholesale (Re-branded as SKY).

If the area is Fibre / FTTC enabled you can take advantage of this with Sky.

Customer service is good if you call Mon-Fri 9-5 and get a 'British' Call center. Out side of these hours is catered for by our Indian friends on the other side of the planet.

I think Sky are great. I recently upgraded and it was done within 10 mins of making the call. I have my TV and Blu ray player connected to the modem and it downloads movies pretty quick from Netflix and On demand. The BB isnt as fast as Virgin, I know this because my neighbour has it and he doesnt have a PW . We have Sky HD boxes in the lounge and one bedroom and regular boxes in the other two bedrooms and I am really happy with all of it. Sky 3D is AWESOME but the program lineup isnt great, its seems to have been non stop Ryder Cup recently:shakehead: but when there is something you want to watch it is fantastic. I have never spoken to anyone outside of the UK, Sky are only a few miles down the road from here so the call centre staff are local to me and they have always been first class in my experience.

I have sky, by going for the unlimited package downloads are not a problem, the anytime tv (now tv on demand) uses it so a limited package is useless.

Just haggle a lot, you can get some good incentives.

I have just finished 6 months free bb and am still on 12 months free line rental.
