Anyone else come across these little b***ards? How the feck are you supposed to get rid of them? They drive me barmy, even if you click on the stupid advert they won't f*** off! :bang:

Is there any software available that blocks these? The normal pop up blockers (google toolbar etc) don't affect them at all

EDIT: Ok, thats not actually one in the attachment, its just a really awkwardly placed picture but it LOOKS like one, so I guess you all know the things I mean?

Download mozilla firefox, i haven't seen a pop-up in months...

I am on IE, and have also never seen popups in months

I do run Google toolbar, plus popup blocker in SP2, plus Norton has a blocker - but still, you get my point

yup opera or firefox.IE is a nightmare for that spyware ,scripts ...........etc

Hmm, I still get the damn things... can't find an example now think I'll give Firefox a go!

Must be just me and Paul who have no issues whatsoever with spyware/scripts/etc on IE

well its not so much the program as its the target of pop ups etc due to the high number of users running IE.especially non computer literate users browsing without blockers etc

Yep, can't say fairer than that......

FireFox is okay but its flash and java compatibility is shocking (at least when I tried it), there were loads of posts on forums about this problem.;

I use stopzilla and i havent had any probs in months

Get Opera, it has a built-in pop-up stopper but in addition, it's only a click or keystroke to turn plugins/ javascript on and off, which gets rid of annoying things like that. Then same keystroke to turn it back on when you need it .

I use Firefox (and IE very occasionally) and the blockers for either don't block them, but I have never had a problem getting rid of them, because they have always had an X button on the top right or a close window option on the ad somewhere.

they're not popups, they're divs (dhtml elements) which have adverts in. they'll appear in most browsers, even opera/firefox etc... you can stop them by turning javaScript off, but, you browsing the web won't be as fun.

Except for the fact that Javascript is somewhat easier to turn on and off in Opera and probably Firefox. Two words - mouse gestures

I hate mouse gestures... I forget what I've assigned to what, and get confused.

I get as far as forward, back, my page menu and my quick preferences menu and errrrr that's all I use, bet there are more though
