Wear a wig and a short skirt and no-one will notice ;). Even as a woman, this kind of discrimination annoys me. I can see where they are coming from but a. men can also get attacked if someone is out to mug someone for their wallet b. women can stand up for themselves c. all car parks should be secure and well lit!

males are supposed to be able to take being knifed/shot like a man :D

LMAO for real :p

Well I don't think its fair that males should be forced to park their motors in an unsecure area, but I also see the point where a female "may" be more vunerable to attack in an unsecure area, simple weight disadvantage, nothing to do with bravery, confidence or not being able to lamp someone to put their lights out.

Furthermore where I work used to be car crime central, garunteed a car would be broken into at least twice a week. but I never started walkin to work because, my car was victim to car crime once at work, they never broke teh window or damaged anything but gained acces to the car none the less (yeh yeh it was locked :p) and they did get a broken £170 MP3 player which I was gonna post to get repaired.

suprisingly this is when my car was standard, when it got wheels and a body kit car criminals left it alone, they must have assumed it had security even though it wasn't alarmed for at least 6 months while modified.

if you have to park in a place where you cant hear your alarm and at work this is often the case, fit a pager alarm. I have and it makes me feel 100% secure when I leave my car alone. can't hear it when your raving but when sleeping it would wake you and when noise levels are normal you will hear it :)

would you park your car where it's easy to steal, badly lit, not looked down upon, viewable from a road and either on it's own or with only 1-2 other cars?
Yes, if there was nowhere else to park it!

There are crashes on the M25 all the time but I don't just not use it because I might die! Maybe you should just scrap it - then it can't be broken into :D

are you saying we should have a car park for little people, and the lanky and fat people should be made to park furthur away then :p

At the end of the day paul, its a completly standard laguna. The miscreant youths will be much more interested in something else to break into, so i wouldnt worry :)

they may think it belongs to one of the lectuerers! and attack it

Serin I am loving your signatures more and more each time :D

And yes, fat people should park further away because they're more likely to bump their door into your car when they get out so if they're parked on the opposite side of the car park that's me safe ;)

well, a little person should get to park in the carpark with the smallest stairs or steps.

Lanky people can park furthest away doesn't matter if its dark there cause they may look intimidating, and they have the longest legs so the walk is automatically shorter and if the stairs are big then they would be easily negotiable.

Fat people should get to park closest to the building and on a level equal to the entrance so they don't have to climb stairs or hills or accend anything or walk far.

:p

nah the above is not serious but (trying my hardest not to be sexist in anyway) girls are sweet and soft on the outside and should be handled with care as there are some naughty people who will take advantage of the soft and sweetness cause it be an easier target. the lazy bums who don't like to work for their money.

Wondered when that would come up again Stu ;)

I came up with a plan, when i get here remove the CD player and make sure I leave the flap open with the wires showing so it's obvious it's either already been nicked or it's not got a CD player. ALthough it's not removable normally it won't take me more than a minute to do I am sure.

This way, I suppose they might key the car and smash it up since they can't nick anything though, grrr!

I will try to park it sometimes in the back, sometimes on the back and sometimes out on the road.

You're all right, I shouldn't not drive my car because i am scared. However, the chances it is broken into at the back is probably 50%, I hate those odds!

How is that 50% when out of the entire car park you've only seen one broken into

I exagerrate, at times, when I parked there, there were 3 cars parking there. Since the beginning of the academic year, an untaxed/uninisured car was broken into but I was told this was practically asked for so I ignored it. For about 3 weeks now there's only one car parked in there, not sure why, this Corsa, and it was broken into.

It may be that the Nissan Almera that was parked there until 3 weeks ago was broken into and now moved?!

OK, from that I get the impression everyone else is parking somewhere else, why don't you join them :)

I don't know anybody here who has a car except one guy in my flat and he parks sort of on the pavement in the front car park, he has a 307 SE or whatever, weird weird student car!

But I assume people must be parking elsewhere I just never see them. I didn't want to get bad feeling for parking on the front but I only have 4-5 weeks left here so who cares?! I just wonder if there's space there, I know there is right now but it's a bank holiday weekend so I guess quite a few drivers have gone home.

Sorted, I will park where I can (front, road or back) but remove my CD player when I get here and not refit until I drive home, making sure the wires are visible to say "somebody already nicked me" - what do you think?

Amazing you just posted this, Just heard the punto was broken into today - parked on our drive (for the first time for ages because it's usually in the garage) door crowbar'd, passenger window smashed, glovebox open, nothing taken because all there was was a couple of old tapes. What a pleasant co-incidence! That's £30 up the swanny. :(
