Forum donations!

Hi all I was reading a thread the other day in the Site ideas section about where the money raised from the donations went & I was shocked to hear that even after the money raised Ben was still footing the bill for the rest of the server lease & software updates. I just thought (probably gonna get linched here) what if people made regular donations say £1-2 a month or £20 a year, if everyone did that it would be less of a burden on Ben. I wouldn't have any problem in doing that. Come guy & girls what do you think?

Yeah I just thought it a bit unfair for one person to be footing the bill thats all.

forced donations will drive people away, and how will you chase up people to pay? it would mean a paid annual membership which isnt good. guests wouldnt be able to view the boards and so would be reluctant to join up. I for one wouldnt sign up for a paid membership, not unless there was something else to get out of it, not just a forum.

ive made donations in the past (not alot but atleast i have) and I probably will do again in the future. memberships are not the answer unless Fiat forum turns into a proper club. and i personaly dont want that.

I'm gettin close to my donation time again, I pledged £5 for every 500 posts so at the rate im going it'll be about 20 squid a year. I don't think it's right to force it on people as i know what it's like to be really skint when every penny counts, it makes you feel very awkward in these situations and i'm quite happy to put some in the kitty while i can, and i totally understand that some people simply can't.

Great post . I agree with all that, i'd like to do the 500 post thing aswell. Makes perfect sense, if i can afford to.
