EVOs - anyone?

Just curious as to whether anybody on here has owned a Mitsubishi Evolution, regardless of year.

If so, how old before you could get insured on one.

I'v read on parkers that the insurance group is 44, so pretty high, but just curious.

Btw, not looking to get one now that would be careless and silly, but for the future maybe.

Thanks in advance!
Sam

edit: reading the reviews on these on parkers and they sound amazing, other than servicing costs, oh and tax at around £460!!!

Group 44 Pop over to PuntoSports, seems ALOT of the PuntoGT owners have Evo's as there everyday car and PuntoGT's as a toy car or vice versa.. Either way, lots of them have Evo's.

I have always thought they just look boring to drive tbh..

Re: EVOs - anyone?

I used to work with I guy who imported a 1993 first edition evo the problem with importing being they are restricted to something like 115mph (which I removed for him) and the speedometer only goes up to that lol

He paid £5k in 2005 for a car which was 12years old which was just silly money!

The biggest problem with these big turbo small displacement engines is they do tend to be pretty unreliable

£491 for me

Still, I won't be getting one any time soon. Or in fact, ever.

Edit: £315 for a 2002 Alfa 156 1.6 ..... WTF?

Re: EVOs - anyone?

Those cars ain't so rare over here These cars also only take 98RON fuel, so no cheaping out there! Be very lucky to see 25mpg... If you are going for one, there is an EVO 7/8 made in estate guise, which is ultra rare

Always prefered Imprezas myself and had one as a result

Re: EVOs - anyone?

meh, my seicento only takes high octane fuel lol. Doesn't really work if you put normal fuel in it. Its normal for me lol.

If i was to go jap 4wd car i would want a impreza 22b but again they seem to safe to be exciting to me.

Re: EVOs - anyone?

I'd love a 22B. I've only ever seen three, and only one of them was still in one piece at the end of the day

Are Evos 'special' over there?

I only ever see them driven by women in York, in which case i see it as a cool car - think blokes just look a bit desperate in an Evo lol

Re: EVOs - anyone?

I could have a V8 if I wanted, I'd only be able to afford to put petrol in it once a year but I could have one
