Just wondering if there is one?

Like VAG for Volkswagen/Audi (and SEAT and Skoda).

FARL? (Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, Lancia?)
Despite that sounding like soda bread.

Google doesn't turn up anything useful.

italian ?

I fail to think of any other significant italian built cars which are still owned by Fiat or any other italian owned manufacturer

oh and we're still forgetting Maserati ;)

fiat, alfa, lancia, ferrari, maserati and chrysler... so pretty much go with

AM (Awesome Motors)

before any of you slate me for chrysler ill take this opportunity to remind you of the larger Hemi lumps of the 60's and 70's ;)

Dont think there is one. I dont think theres ever been a need for one.

The main reason Volkswagen Audi Group is regarded as VAG and Opel/Vauxhall is GM Europe because they have generic parts between the brands.

e.g. Opel Astra is a Vauxhall Astra.. and Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia and Audi A3 are ALL VW Golfs underneath. and with the new MQB Platform thats even more so..

I dont think many of the Fiat brand have common platforms, however they are moving that way with the Panda/500/MiTo platform.

Also Fiat dont "Technically" own Maseratti.. Ferarri own Maserrati and Fiat own them..

Its the same situation with Lambourghini, they arent regarded as a VAG Car. But they are owned by Audi.

Alfa 145/146 is a Tipo underneath, think the 147 was basically a Bravo? Lancia Ypsilon I think was an IDEA, which in turn was based on the Mk2 IIRC? Lancia Thema was a Fiat Tempra I think, too. A lot of platform sharing between Alfa, Fiat and Lanica has gone on for decades.

As far as a name - Fiat Group. Boring isn't it? ;)

Think you might find Lamborghini is part of VAG. Lancia Thema shared its floorplan and basic structure with the FIAT Croma, Alfa 164 and Saab 9000.

Actually, with the aforementioned FARL, if they got rid of Lancia and merged with Toyota the outcome doesn't bear thinking about!!!

I wonder if most Americans know a foreign company own Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram?

Also, Fart Jam.

There we have it: all FIAT cars = follow through.

Actually, I think the group may actually be called FIAT Auto. Engines, transmission and associated gubbins come under the heading of FPT, or FIAT Or FIAT Powertrain Technology. This includes petrol and small diesel engines from FIAT, large diesels from IVECO and petrols from Ferrari.

I was using it as an example.

I said that you wouldn't include Maserati in the FIAT Group as Fiat don't own them, Ferrari do.

Which is where my example came in. Lamborghini aren't generally regarded as VAG dispute been owned by A VAG company

I never said they were owned by FIAT or that Audi was Italian.

The reason for the *cough * was that Andy couldn't think of a significant Italian company not owned by Fiat, and I was purely pointing that Lamborghini is Italian and not owned by them.

ACTUALLY... my statement was "owned by fiat or any other italian owned manufacturer"

seeing as Lamborghini is not owned by fiat or any other italian owned manufacturer my statement is 100% correct in respect to your suggestion of lamborghini being contrary to my comment.

Lamborghini is as much a Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft group car as is bentley bugatti or a seat, they all have the same parent company why is one considered any less part of that group than any other?
bentleys and bugattis all use VW engines or technology where as Lambo use the Audi technology and drive trains.

as for Maserati it is a company registered as being under the ownership of Fiat S.p.A and has been since the early 90s it is very much a fiat owned company.
Eklipze3k has been pretty much the closest so far as they are all indeed Fiat Group cars
