hi all,

Trying to sell my punto sporting mk 2.
What are the best tricks to get it looking amazing so it gets bought?

I have shampoo'd the seats, hoovered everything and cleaned dash and windows. New air freshener obvs.

I really need to sell my car quick. Can anyone help with advice on how best to sell a car quickly.

thanks guys
x

Yeah it's a spray that makes the tyres look clean and shiny
It can also help to clean all the black trim on the outside of the car with similar products to make them all shiny and black
Another thing that will always help sell a car is having a long MOT

Just imagine that if you were buying a car what would put you off? Usually it's getting the car looking as close to brand new as you can

She's from Hemingbrough just down the road,

In all honesty the best way to sell is in the advert. Stick to facts, FSH & a fresh MOT are pretty much up there on the wanted list. You can clean a car all day long, but so much second hand out there. The numbers & information about the car must add up, if you know what I mean.

When I go to look at a car, I like to see they owner has as much documentation as possible, all ready and easy to flick through. Even things just like receipts for repairs and new tyres so you have an idea its been well looked after.

Also, I check on the inside of the wheel arches for built up mud. Little sign to see if they care for the car a lot or not.

Just a simple clean of the interior and exterior does for me

Dont believe in tyre dressing, washing the engine etc basically giving it a massive valet, it would make me think there is something suspect, like theyre trying to hide something by cleaning it

I agree with that! These also do my nut....

"sound engine and box before the cam belt snapped on the motorway"

"Engine runs sweet no problems, head gasket needs attention"

having worked in the trade as well as trading a few cars over the years i can guarantee that if i want to sell something quickly not one of the people who have commented on this thread would be the people I would be after as a buyer.

there are more people who will be bought over by a full valet and yes shiny tyres than those here.

if i ever wanted to sell a car quick then i had 3 rules

1. fix anything thats broken
2. full valet and New MOT
3. paid ad in autotrader

as long as i followed those rule the car would usually sell within a week and usually without much haggling

as long as it seems looked after and you're open and honest in your advert and when talking to buyers you'll never have an issue

Thanks for your advice guys. I have done a full valet but I'm under no illusion it'll instantly sell my car.
I also went to put an add on auto trader but nearly fell off my chair when I saw how much it was. It's advertised on tootcar, gumtree, here and a sales page on fb. I have also put posters in my car

Just sold my car (2 hours ago) one of the key things was I was extremely honest with condition including pictures of a dent, where some lacquer was coming off and a cig burn on the interior.

Last thing anyone wants is to travel a long way to find obvious bad parts which could have been pictured in the first place. I walked away from 3 cars last weekend due to condition.

Autotrader seems expensive for a reason. It sells cars quickly. Any car I have put in there has always sold in a week or 2. It's cheaper than eBay in the long run once you take off the listing and selling fee.
