Re: I might be in the s***... advice please!

The Police will do nothing, even if she does report you - any CCTV about, any other witnesses? Unlikely.

Re: I might be in the s***... advice please!

Nothing will happen, just don't get in the situation again.

This threads gonna confuse a whole lotta people (y)

For those of you who saw it: cheers for the advice :) and Paul & Stu, hope you're both right for my "friend"'s sake...

Here's the quote from my good friend "Terrence":

Terrence said:
Right, in a nutshell there's some woman out there who wants to report me for dangerous driving. What I want to know is, do I actually have anything to worry about?

The story is: I'm driving down a main road. I'm p***ing about with the radio, and maybe going a little bit rapidly and I don't notice that the cars in front have stopped until too late. There's someone turning right, and behind them is this woman in her car.

I slam on but there's no way I'm ever going to stop in time. If I swerve to the right I'll hit the car thats turning. The pavement on my left, however is clear of pedestrians - so rather than hitting the car in front, I drive onto the pavement, pass the stationary cars without any collision, and rejoin the road in front of them.

The first car I passed, however, followed me. When I stopped, she pulled up alongside, and told me that "you should get a driving licence" and that she was going to report me for dangerous driving. Being a bit s**t from it myself, I just mumbled something along the lines of "yeah, sorry, fair enough" and buggered off.

Admittedly, it was entirely my fault. But, because there was no collision involved and it's her word against mine (I was on my own in my car, she was too), am I actually in any danger of getting a visit from the local constabulary?

A few of my mates reckon that nothing will even happen, and that if the the police actually did bother to question me then all I need do is deny it all, as there's no proof of anything. I'm not entirely convinced... any advice/opinions welcomed (unless it's to call me a d***head, that I already know :D)

reality 1: she can get a proforma report from her local station and report your "friend" for driving without due care and attention

reality 2:the problem is that it comes down to her word against your "friends"...the local traffic unit will decide wether the public intrest is served by taking it further

i've seen a few of these reports go in, but must admit have not yet seen one end up in a prosecution, but there is always a first time, i would however suggest to your "friend" that if he was seen by an officer wether on or off duty the chances of a summons would go through the roof...

bugger.. just realised "Terrence" could've got her reg number, or followed her home, and poisoned the b*tch
Do they take into account your past record, as my mate has a clean licence and has never been in trouble with the law before...

I was just being realistic...without sufficient proof nothing will happen.

Jonny, don't do it again and please concentrate more! Hopefully you have learnt from it.
