Re: What's made you grumpy today? (Part II)

Before attacking the dealer, trot around your local supermarket car parks tomorrow and have a good look at as many 208s as you can find. Then you'll have a good comparison.

Also be careful about whether these things were considered 'apparent' when your Mum viewed it. Were they noticed, were they pointed out by her or the salesman, were there promises to rectify. Door not fitting could be 'standard', as could panel imperfections. Scratch on the mirror is probably on the plastic, so will not corrode. Might all be considered acceptable for age of car.

Keep calm, and ask, not demand.
"I've noticed a deep scratch on the mirror, were you aware of this, and would you normally consider this acceptable for resale?"
"Had you noticed that the passenger door seems not to fit properly? Can you fix this?"
You may like to reword these to your own.
Much more difficult for them to defend polite questions of disappointment.

Pour water from a watering can or hose, but without pressure, all over the door to check for leaks. If it leaks, they need to fix, if it doesn't, you might get nothing, or maybe the next service and a set of mats.

Couple of things, young lad at work has smashed his knee playing football (surgery bad). Canny lad, just bought his first house hope it isn't anything permanent.

Oh and following an 09 panda with rear shocks so bad the rear tyres looked like bouncy balls..

Getting sunburn at Brooklands, then finding out that my Brother-in-law has scrapped his mk1 Punto.

EDIT: I've just remembered that he had my central locking kit in that car.

Re: the situation with the new car, they said they didnít know the history of the car and admitted that it was a lie that a former employee owned it .... but they did find us a better spec 208 Active with alloys, tinted windows, parking sensors etc and offered to sort that out for us instead so they had a decent response. Not sure if Iíd ever buy a car from them though

Not to today.. but Tuesday.

Having to not say anything as the person who said "preventative maintenance is for mugs" (slight paraphrase but the phrase for mugs is a direct quote) was relaying their harrowing story about being towed back from a distant destination on BH weekend.

Parked on a quiet cul de sac round the corner. Find this has happened to my Panda. No note left .

Was it opposite a driveway? Quite likely to be a car from a driveway opposite, and not caring as they'll feel entitled to free access.

Any paint left by the culprit? Wander around the cul-de-sac once everyone is home and see if anything matches colour, and hopefully damage area. If no luck with that, knock a few doors close by and ask if anyone had a delivery, or saw anyone manoeuvring nearby.

Thanks, not opposite a driveway, but it is opposite a corner. My first thought was that it might have been the council vans that have been in and out repairing a kerb.

Now, as it happens I had dashcams front and rear fitted last week, and they have a "bump" trigger - they come on if the car is bumped. I was going to change the settings as they come on if you slam the doors!

Anyway, after about a dozen cups of tea and fags to calm me down, I checked the footage. Got a shot of a car backing away from the side of my car, then going on round the corner to park a bit further down. You can see a dent in its driver side bumper, just where it would be for hitting my car, and the number plate. I've checked and it is taxed, MOTd, and insured, and I know its insurers and policy number (I used AskMID for that, Vehicle Smart for the tax and MOT). I've been and had a look and it's not parked nearby at the moment. Will keep an eye out.

Waiting for a ref number from the police at the moment.

Windows10 doing a major update. Already been processing for about two hours, (now at 86% installed) need to go to bed, up early tomorrow. But need this computer for the day's work, so have to allow it to finish, then reboot and set up for tomorrow.
Right now, meeting a Microsoft programmer might cause me to be very violent.

Must admit my experience with Macís have been relatively problem free! It helps that they have people you can see in person too if you do want to complain!
