That Punto diesel looks fine so what's really wrong with it? We may never know.

Around my way, they stone-chip the roads without filling in the pot holes. All part of the service.

I wasn't joking when I said it didn't move much these days got as far as we buy cars for more though, so it's gone. The CitroŽn is fully paid off 12 months early..and I've got some walking around money for a bit.

Took my partner to collect some new hearing aids today. Hooray! She can now hear me talk normally, instead of mishearing me talk loudly.

Then on the way home, pulled into a supermarket car park. An Audi Q5 pulled in behind me, very clean, very new. Mum in the driving seat looked in horror at the Panda, while daughter in passenger seat pointed and smiled. More impressed by a 15yr old Panda, than Mum's new Audi SUV.

Car insurance renewal for the Coupe came today, slightly higher than last year. Well I thought, Iím just going to give them a phone and see whatís what. Result, lovely young woman telling me, just hold on a minute and Iíll see what I can do for you. £150 again and I was offered national break down cover for an extra £40.. Thatíll do for me.

Daughter told mum to buy a Tesla or an old Panda. Anything else is SOOO last century.

Re: What's made you smile today? (Part II)

Have to be in Brackley for 8:30am tomorrow, so an early start. About 40 miles.
There again on Thursday, but a late session, starting 1pm instead.

Strangely the mileage allowance for the second day is 50p more. Is the country stretching? Or just flexing?

Re: What's made you smile today? (Part II)

The PITA PA turned in her notice on Friday. Seems the new Project Director called her on Thursday and ripped her a new one about her less than stellar performance. Canít be thin skinned in this business and survive.

OTOH, you do the job you were hired for has unexpected perks. I just made American Airlines Platinum Pro yesterday. It means I fly a hell of a lot but AA also takes care of me.

Six warehouse guys from a new Amazon distribution centre, all stood around outside Sainsbury's, all holding their packs of sushi for lunch.

Is this actually choice, or peer pressure?

If they can get that for it...Good luck to them.

The top looks lovely to be fair, it's the underside that's scary.

The 3k profit should cover the manicat it's going to need within the warranty period...and the wheelbearing...and the new steering wheel to remedy the cancel button on the cruise only working 95% of the time. Otherwise known as just enough for it for it to occasionally scare you when someone pulls out on the motorway and the cruise doesn't cancel.

Oh and the new BCM/getting the old one taken apart to solve the intermittent interior lights (note only 2 of 3 are on). Oh and the occasionally leaky rear light seals..

Obviously it's an old car...perfection would be unrealistic but at 5k for a 10 year old car you'd hope they'd have a go! I imagine they'll have done nothing to be fair..these photos were taken one hour after I'd left it, all they've done is put tyre black on.

The Metro is £POA which probably goes some way to explaining why they're selling a car that if you go on autotrader and sort by cheapest is worth between 2700-3500 for 5k with those miles on it.

If you forego white...then there's a gunmetal one local with 15k less on it for 2700.

Re: What's made you smile today? (Part II)

I've been chivying my youngest boy for some time now to do something about replacing his front tyres which are very borderline illegal!

Anyway, he rang me to say he's done it so I was asking what he bought. Michelins Dad he said. I had to sit down with the shock of that because he's always pleading poverty but it turns out his friend, who works in a tyre store and runs the same car he does, got a staff bargain price on a complete set of premium tyres. His old set, which were the Michelins, were worn out on the fronts but the rears were still 6mm on one and just under 6mm on the other. He let my boy have the two good ones for the price of swapping them over! What a bargain, what a good friend and what a lucky lad my boy is!

Christ!! I can only assume they're unaware that any potential buyers can see its MOT history, so all the advisories for rust are there for all to see...

They know you can...given they did it in front of me when I took it in. But the question is how many people do?

Certainly makes colourful reading....
