Be getting my disk cutter out on that bad boy.

Would end up like a jig saw puzzle.

I went out to the guys fitting the clamp and opened up the car, got the tax disc out of the glove box and they didnt wanna know...

I warned them, its fully taxed so you best stop what your doing with the clamp, they didnt wanna know so it was a phone call to my mate (who lent me the car), he sent a friend up with the angle grinder and we chopped through the chain / padlock like butter.

Left the clamp on the road with a note.

My friend got a letter about two weeks later trying to charge him for the clamp - he appealed and it got thrown out

Saw a crash damaged 500 x in getting the front end replaced...was in a questionable colour. Supplying dealer must have thought so too as in the window was a bit of cardboard with the registration on it.

**65 YUK that did not happen by accident...

I think they get cross if you cut up their clamps.

Saw a car which had been clamped, and someone had just written on it "Keep the ******!"

Surely the chain is part of the clamp and therefore part of the DVLA property.

Bit of a grey area if it has been used illegally to begin with especially if it wasn't damaged beyond repair.

I fully agree.

The fool was shown the correct and current tax disc and was saying that unless its displayed then its offence... it was not an offence by the way, there is nothing wrong with temporarily removing the disc when parked outside your home for obvious reasons - they still knew it was taxed as it was on the dvla database.

Anyhow - as for the clamp, it was not damaged, the chain had one link cut out.
You could argue the toss and say they never put the link round the padlock correctly in the first place - hence the padlock only padlocked to one link and not two (cut one of the links that the padlock was on and removed it totally)

So unless they had pictures of the the clamp with it padlocked and fully linked and if not that, then a picture of the chain with all its links that you could count - its not gonna stick in a court of appeal at all.

The bloody idiot who was dumb enough to put it on, never mind putting it on correctly in the first place you get me? lol
