That one has awful reviews (and I mean dire, most of them don't exactly have good ones!)

512mb SD is 25 + P&P

I think they are all cack anyway as Im an audio purist. My mac is linked up to my technics equipment and MP3s sound poo, even when i had a working PC linked up they wernt brill.

Ill stick to me vinyl and cds, got cds in the car and a trusty md walkman that only gets used once a year now i dont walk anywhere- when i sunbathe on holiday!

Yes but that one isn't just bad in terms of sound but in quality of the unit etc. It came up on MSE and people were told "cheap but stay away!". I always feel it best to warn people then let them make up their mind.

As an audiophile, you won't like anything in the world of MP3 full stop I expect.

thanks folks, mp3 does sound cack, its ok for audio books, if not for music though........ how how do i fit a systemdeck turntable, nad pre/power amps and tannoy dual concentric speakers into my punto, then i'll havea proper car stereo...... :)

I'm buying one off Jamie86, they're quite good my sister has one. I think they're called iAudio M3 ...something like that. Ask Jamie. :)

MP3's below 192kbps are not that good, 320 preferably but starts to kinda loose the point of them after that.

Liam

Liam good plan but how can MP3's possibly be better quality than say... the CD they are ripped from as CD quality is roughly 192kps so where does the extra info come from??

Indeed, I do this kind of product testing at uni, CD audio is actually around 128kbps BUT the extra 64kbps bringin it upto 192kbps is for tolerance of a waveform that may have been lost due to the content of the audio data being copied.

on average your CD audio data will not exceed 160kbps very often but 192 is jus a safer option.

anything above this and majority of the file size is "empty" audio data giving you a large file for nothing.

Yay. Got my MP3 player now :D
Just have to get my little sister to teach me how to work it

Well I can wholeheartedly recommend this little cutie:

I bought one on Jamie's advice, for my missus.
I was expecting a fairly plasticky, nasty mp3 player that got the job done, and could hold a maximum of about 10 songs. It is after all £30 delivered for chrissakes!!

WRONG

first thing I noticed was the box it arrived in: Classy, well built and not a hint of badly worded chinese writing anywhere :D
I then opened the box and was blown away at how small the thing was: the photo shows it next to a Bic pen, and it really is dinky.
I picked it up and the first thing it said to me was quality. Solid black plastic, and real solid aluminium at the back. It looks and feels just like a diddy Zen micro, which of course go for a wee bit more...
Still a little sceptical, I was expecting a £30 mp3 player to have maybe a tacky screen, something like those free credit card sized calculators you get for instance! Wrong again, the blue on black screen looks classy and holds a lot of information about the track.
It's packed with features, the sound quality is excellent from the headphones.
I have also loaded 15 songs on it so far and there's still memory to spare.
If you're looking for a bottom end MP3 player, This is your boy I kid you not!!

One very jealous boyfriend (y)
