Hi All,

I cannot stop coughing!

With work I do a week every month at uni and this week I have exams, though most of today was spent outside coughing to the point where I had to vomit.

If this wasnt bad enough, the night is just so much harder.

I have people at either side who im sure will not appreciate it.

I am trying:
Warm water with honey
Strepsils
Cough Medicine
Cold and Flu tablets
Cold water

I have just recovered from cold and it seems this cough is what is remaining.

It kind of tickles as I breath but is not chesty at all.

Yes this is probably the last place I expected to post (being a car forum) but i am desperate now :(

My stomach absolutely kills from coughing, been in bed 3 hours now and cant se my self sleeping at all.

Yes there are people dying elsewhere, so a cough is nothing compared, but if anybody can help at all then I would be very grateful!

mate, i know just what your going through. you will recover from this.. i have but its going to take about a week to clear up :/ (going on my brothers one)

i managed to get over it fairly fast heh.. but folk are not going to like it.

onions and garlic. i am guessing if you had the one i just had its taken out your taste and smell (just got my smell back and i recoverd from the cough about 5 days ago!).

i was able to eat a red onion like an apple.. with some bread and cheese heh but thats how much it took away my taste and smell senses.

the differance with me and my brother was quite a lot, he actualy still has his a little. but now i feel fully cured of it.

its one of those things... the price you pay for being repulsive (onions and garlic smell wise) to people. or keeping the cough.

and mate, i really feel for you in the trying to get to sleep bit. i dont think i got any sleep and i was coughing that much my mum and dad had to ware ear plugs... and i sleep down stairs!

try that though if you dont mind offending people.. (hell i didn't)

i hope this is of some help to you

See a doctor. You probably need an inhaler spray which contains a steroid to calm down the irritation in your chest/lungs. It is not permanent. A week or two will probably cure it.
Next patient please!

HI sorry I have had to reply like this, but does anyone have any ideas why I cant post on here, by new post/thread,?
I am desperate for an answer for a problem on my multipla!!!!
As for your coughing, go to Morrisons or any supermarket and get a bottle of Bronchial mixture, only about 1.50 , disgusting stuff, but we always use this, put it in a little hot water, not quite so bad then,
Give it a go and you will soon stop coughing!!

thanks a lot for the suggestions...really appreciate it!

Think im just gonna try some covonia as suggested for tonight.

@dragon man: thanks for that mate, although im not sure i could do the red onion thing because i have full taste and smell now :p but is good to know you got rid of it soon enough

Again thanks for the replies, the fact that you can ask for help on anything (within reason) and expect an honest reply makes this forum different to some of the others I have llooked at.

Urgent!
I am in the middle of doing a heart transplant and I think I've mixed up the Aorta and the Pulmonary Artery! Does anybody know how I can tell the difference?
Please hurry, the patient's gone blue and the anaesthetist knocks off at 5.30 and he says he's on strike tomorrow!
Only joking!

Hahahahaha!

Gone all day without f*** coughing, come back to room and BOOM, tickly cough is back.

Had medicine, some whisky, done absolutely nothing lol.

Its like the feeling you get after sprinting really hard and all the chest is tingly when you breath, think thats prob why medicine isnt working or something.

Not sure if it will work but gone for the cup of water on the radiator to try and do something to the air, not sure what it does but worth a try!:p

Dont usually complain about a cough but id rather s*** the bed for 2 weeks straight than cough all f*** night (y)

Manuka honey is different to other honey. Darned expensive but good stuff. Excellent for a first aid box for wounds and skin problems too.

Really sounds good! will keep an eye out for it :)

Yes it is expensive lol, just had a look :O presuming its worth it though.

You know what, I think the cup of water on the radiator is actually helping slightly

Its over there too!!!

Me and my dad have it. It took me 8 weeks to shake the f*ucker of a cough. Dad still has it

Went to the doctor after I virtually had a fit and collapsed. Gave me 7 days worth of pinaclav tablets. It really helped kill it (y)

Once off the tablets, I used these to finish it off fully. Gone within 2 weeks with a bang ;)

It's probably the change of temperature or atmosphere in your room that's setting it off. That's why I said see a doc, because it sounds to me like the membranes in your respiratory tract are very sensitive due to the previous infection, and need calming down with a steroid spray.
