I just went to my local Wickes as I am decorating my bedroom. I get to the checkout hand over my card and I am asked if I would like to donate x amount to charity. My response was no, I came to Wickes to buy a paint roller and a tube of filler, not to donate to charity.

Is it just me of does anyone else get totally fed up with constant requests for money? It seems like every time I go to Tesco or Sainsbury there is someone waving a bucket under my nose as I walk through the door asking me to donate to sick children.

A few weeks ago I was at the checkout and some guy was in my face with his bucket asking to pack my shopping for me. NO, I will pack my own shopping thank you! He then stood two feet from me and watched me pack it myself with a disgusted look on his face.

I think there are a lot of people who actually feel coerced into giving money rather than appear cold and uncaring. The ONLY ones I do actually ever give money to in the street are the old soldiers selling poppies - the only ones who just sit there and allow people to approach THEM.

Then there are ones who stop you in the street to set up a Direct Debit of £2 a month. I heard that they get something like £100 for every one they sign up and the £2 a month has to pay them before the charity even see it.

I may be in danger of sounding like a grumpy old woman here ( love that show lol) but I just want to leave my house, get what I need and come home without having to fight off a pack of people who want money from me.

Dont get me started on the guys who literally chase me across the car park begging to wash my car armed only with a filthy sponge and a tiny container of cold water - no sign of hot soapy running water to be seen......

Rant over.

I'd need to encourage those people to come. Food for the tiger. (y)

You wouldn't believe the price of tinned tiger food in Tescos now. :(

Yes and thats after you have dodged the ones who lurk in the pet food aisle trying to persuade you to change electricity providers...

I got asked for 50p from the lady in Wickes too, i said no thanks, she replied no? i said no, she then looked at me with disgusted look on her face. If i give money to people collecting its normally to the ones who have made an effort to do some thing to raise the money in their own time.
I buy stuff from charity shops too, but some of them take the **** charging more for an old item of clothing than it cost new from tesco

For some strange reason I never get stopped walking through town if I'm with my girlfriend. Walked through town with her once to drop her off somehwere and went past some charity group, didn't even look at us. Walking past them again to go home and they stopped me!

She thinks it's because she's ginger.

I think they prey on people who are alone...

We don't even need to leave the house, they come round door to door.
It seems silly to me tho, the knock on the door in the day time, when most people are at work, and jobless layabouts like me are home. I have so much money I don't need to work... Yeah right. :p

We had a bloke knock on our University house door..

He asked for the house owner so i replied "its a rental, don't think the owner will apreciate me calling him up" so he said is this a university household and can you spwre £2 a month to the RSPCA. To which I replied that I'm in my overdraft what do you think, I can barely feed myself... While drinking a bottle of Peroni...

Don't even get me started. All this begging really winds me up. I have 2 standing orders for the charities I want to support and will shove money in a bucket as and when for other things if the fancy takes me.

Work is a nightmare work in a doctors surgery so always sponsor forms and hassling emails there. At the moment some "charity" keeps ringing to speak to my OH and I keep telling them to sod off and leave us alone.

Then its the annoying tv adverts, leaflets through the door and people pouncing on you when you are wondering around. I personally feel charities should not be physically allowed to ask you. They can advertise and stand there but should not be allowed to speak and harrass you.

I think next time i get harassed by some charity worker in the street begging for money im going to report them. I think that if they get enough reports of people doing that and annoying people they might stop.
